Can you use coupons when using foodstamps?

Yesterday, at the advice of a social worker and teachers, I applied for food stamps. Now that I have my ebt card, I qualify for $85.00 a month. Since this isn't much money, I am planning to on using coupons as well. Is this allowed?

Yes! It sure is. Coupons will help you stretch those $$$.

Be sure to have a very small change with you at first. Depending on the state..some charge you a small amount of tax on the coupon. So you might need to give 20 cents for using $50 in coupons. Tends to still be worth it LOL

I thought of that as well, but I don't think there is additional tax in MN

i have also heard and read that it is best to keep your food order separate from the non food. something about the coupons for non food attaching to the food total and not the non food total...so you would pay less from foodstamps but more for non food ..kwim?

Firstly, what does Kwim mean?

Second, I'm not planning on buying any non-food items, but thanks for the advice.

Third, I'd like to thank the group in general for not shaming me for being on food stamps. I've had people do that both online and IRL and it was getting irritating, so thanks for not doing it! ^_^

I'm on them because my mom kicked me out and my friend's family, who I am staying with shouldn't have to pay my expenses. I'm also getting on general assistance, which means soon I can replace some of my skirts that are getting worn out.

I am so relieved I can use coupons with food stamps though! It is just like... * PHEW!!*

Yes, also MN has many NBPR MIR's (mail-in rebates ~ no beer purchased required) forms where you can get money back for buying things like meat and produce. Check in the beer isles of your stores, Budweiser, Dos Equis, Blue Moon etc.... if you can't find any in your stores, check out the trading forum!
