Well no one here even knows what a wine tag is LOL
I usually explain they are hanging on wine...that I get mine in Missouri (since they don't exist in Kansas) and that in Kansas...no wine is needed to use.
Has this ever happened to you? I go to the store, get my groceries, match up all the coupons to the items in the cart. I go to pay, and I usually have at least one winetag coupon for something in the cart: $/off meat, cheese, juice, salty snacks, etc. The cashier says, " You have to buy the wine/ alcohol." I point out the fine print that says "NWPR in IL." I sometimes end up taking back the coupon and using another coupon because I don't feel like arguing.I guess I am the only one in this area who actually uses these coupons, because I keep running into cashiers who have never seen these before.
The other day, I purchased chips and salsa, and had a winetag coupon that was $3 off chips and salsa or cheese and crackers, NWPR in IL (and a few other states.). The cashier suggested I go to customer service and show them the coupon. I did. The clerk there read the coupon carefully, then called the assistant manager, who then called the store manager. They ALL read and re-read the coupon, front AND back, every single word. They came to the conclusion that this was a good coupon, and yes, I did buy the required items. I got $3 back in cash.![]()

I live in IL and have had the exact experience. I have to really be in the mood to use winetags. Though the other day I had 4 different ones that totaled $10 and the checker was awesome. One actually went through without beeping. The others he had to type in the amounts. All with no problem. If only it could always be like that.
I have had the same problem. I point out the NWPR and they usually take it. Some stores they beep other ones they don't
I had sanity once upon a time I promise. It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it
.
i tend to have problems at krogers...so instead i go to schnucks. the cashier's there are great. they do beep, but they just push them thru. i had a new cashier there the other day and she read the entire winetag and asked if i got coffee ($4 off coffee) and i said "yup" and she pushed it thru...
