HELP How do you clip your coupons?

I get around 30 ish papers a week. I want all coupons clipped and organized in my binder (which I take EVERYWHERE just in case). I'm getting blisters on my hands cuz of scissors. Sooooooo, how do ya'll clip your coupons? There's gotta be a better way than scissors

I have tried searching for this subject but all the search engine comes up with is coupon clipping services....

you can make a stack of the same insert page and cut multiple pages at the same time- using scissors- or use a paper cutter intended for scrapbooking. some people use the wrapping paper cutter made by scotch ( ? i think that's the brand?) but i have not tried that method.

Would ya'll recommend rotary cutter and board or the big paper cutter board with attached straight edge cutter thingy? I'm thinking the cutter board with attached straight edge cutter thingy but don't want to waste the money if it doesn't work that well.

I do stack inserts and then cut with scissors but I get so many inserts (50-90 week) that my hands hurt by the time I'm done.

    Cutting thread
See post 28 & also 59 for a picture I posted of the rotary cutter. If it wasn't for the rotary cutter, I'd have given up a long time ago.lol.
It's a good thread with lots of ideas.

I don't know if I posted to the other thread about this, but I have one of these. It's like the one that your first grade teacher probably had, to cut strips of paper for art class! I found it at a yard sale for $3 a couple of years ago...and it's been a lifesaver! I normally don't get more than 10 copies per week, but it's so much easier with my cutter!

I like to have my coupons clipped, too, rather than filing the uncut inserts. I don't think I could handle 50 of them at a time, though.
Have you ever thought of clipping some and keeping the rest filed? You can use a dry-erase marker to write on top of the binder sleeve how many more you have and which insert they're in.
Please PM me for trades; the database messes with my mind.

Would it help if you wore some type of thin glove to cushion your hand?

Are you trading most of your coupons to other traders?

Are you giving any coupons away (RAOK) ?

30 newspapers should be giving you 30 of each insert, so 30-60-90 a week.

I've tried cutting a thick stack of papers on the large cutting machine at Office Depot. There is a limit. The blade can force the stack to "walk".
    This happens with scissors too.

If you are trading coupons away you want to lower the shipping so you can send as many coupons per stamp as you can. This requires careful clipping so you cut as close as you can to the boarder while not clipping part of the UPC code or expire date.

I used to get 15-30 inserts a week, and found 10 or less coupons to be easily clipped at one time with scissors. I had to really hold on tight with my right hand, the scissors makes the stack move and it is not hard to clip part of the UPC code, etc.

Some people do not like the idea of throwing away coupons you can not use, when you can give them to someone.

There are "many" pages in each insert that do not contain coupons. Throw those out.
Remove the pages that have coupons you will not be using.
If you have 60 inserts (30 Smart Source and 30 Red Plum), if you remove the empty pages and the ones you won't use, this will make cutting alot easier. The pages that have coupons you will almost never use, you can easily staple those sheets together and save. A stapler will go through maybe 30 inserts, since the paper is so thin.

If you have kids who are old enough to help you and clip them carefully, let them help. Their reward will be some goodies you get using coupons like ice cream, etc.

Go to an Office Depot and experiment and see how many you can clip at one time. The self service area is there, and as far as I know, no purchase is required. I am in there all the time printing things, so when I go just to use their cutter, they are very accomodating.
