Default how to do a price book and how do you know the rock bottom prices

I would like to know how to get this started and I know everyone here is good about getting the low OOP but how do you know what the rock bottom prices are?

Sorry, if these are tough questions but I am hoping if I can figure a way to keep up with this and it not over load me , maybe, just maybe, I can cut a little more off our spending each month.

I know like last week I saw a post for free cheese at fl , but I also know that is rare. How would you label that and so on on the list?
    :shrug7:
or like cookie dough is .50 , I have never seen it that cheap( except in mixes) but maybe I will soon.
And now that I am doing more cvs shopping do I use the price on the receipt or that it is free or the amt. after the ecb / cpns.?

I started a price book of sorts. What I did was listed the few things that I got what I thought were great deals on items. I have had to cross off a few items because I have since gotten better deals, but it's interesting to see my progress. If I get something free, I would list that too. I don't have CVS, but a Walgreens and I count it free, even if it is only FARR (free after register rewards). The longer you coupon, you will start to see the cycles and stock up enough till the next great deal. I don't plan to ever have to pay for toothpaste, shampoo or body wash again.

Also I don't count when I use RR to pay for something to make it free. So even if I used a $10RR to pay for items, I don't write those down as free.

An easy price book can be made using a small address book. It is alphabetical so you can list the product and make notes about sales. Plus, it is small enough to fit in your purse.

I don't count rr as savings until I use them.

As PP said the longer you coupon you will see the sales cycles and figure out what your low price for products is.

I need to do this. My idea would be pricing good deals based on ones that usually have recurring mfq's that come out in the paper.

I am just starting one. I got a mini-composition notebook at walgreens for .99

I am going to write down the regular shelf price of the item at several stores. For example, today I was checking aluminum foil. So I will write "Reynolds Wrap 80ft foil...$2.50 Walmart sale" and then I'll look at kroger and write "Kroger $x.xx"

THAT way when I am at a store and see a "sale" price, I can check to see if it is legitimately good.

I love this idea!!! I am going to the dollar store tonight and getting one! I have procrastinated making a price book but this sounds like an easy way for me to track the most common items that I buy!
