Default Newbie has couponing marketing worked on you

Sorry if this is a duplicate. I am saving money with coupons. I am very happy because lately I have been finding deals on milk, produce, and meat. My problem is I have been ADDING items to my household instead of SUBTRACTING. Here is a recent example.

The gogurts are cheap for me right now with Cartbuster at Kroger. They are a good deal with paper coupons and loadables. This is not a product I have ever purchased. I usually gave the children the regular packaged yogurt. They like it so much now that I have been buying them. I think if these were regular price I would buy them. Also those yakisoba noodles. I love asian type food and I love the teriyaki flavor. I usually get these free but I did buy a couple for a dollar each when I ran out of coupons.

I have tried several things I never would have when I got them free with coupons. I don't think I've bought any of those new items yet....still have frees. I truly only shop now at the store for frees....and then meat/milk/eggs, so if it isn't free, it isn't for me :) And yes the yakisoba is one I never would have tried, but still have 15-20 frees, so they will last a while, hopefully til new q's come out!

Just venting I guess. I tried coupons to save money and now I am spending money I didnt spend before. Because now that I have tried their products for free I am willing to pay shelf price for them.

So you tried some products because they were free and now you are addicted to those products. Just come on here and trade for coupons so you can get them free or close to free like before.
Watch your sales ads each week to get an idea of which items you like that, are on sale often,

and stick to your guns.......

sale + coupon = free or close to free

or

"I do not buy it"

she is right you try it then if you like it you trade for or buy coupons for a few cents to stock up on them so they last you until the coupon comes around again. Thats what we all do and in the end you will save more money this way it may seem like you buy more but you are saving by doing so.. it sees like you mean you are buying more products but maybe not spending more money right? thats the point you have three/four times the products for the same amount of money so I dont see any problems whith that...

434 I was saying that I am adding $$ to my grocery bill because I have become a customer of new products. I will heed the good advice. Try to get multiples of coupons for my familys favorite products. Pantry items are no problem. I need to look into buying a freezer for my garage so I can stock up on frozen and cold foods.
Thanks

Too funny! My hubby is learning how to get his favorites using coupons too! If I get something and he likes it, he finds ways to get more of those coupons himself.

Since starting to use coupons and get name brand items free or cheap, yes there are brands we prefer, but no I do not buy them when they are full price without a coupon. I consider those items "treats". We lived just fine before we knew they existed and we'll live fine without them if I have to wait for another sale or coupon. I will wait for a coupon and sale to come around again. Then I stockpile those items enough to last me until the next deal on them.

For me personally, I like saving the money I would spend on those items at full price more than I like the items. My budget is tight which is why I started using q's in the first place. I like the freedom to do other things with my money. It sounds like you found a few products you enjoy enough that you are willing to part with your money. There's nothing wrong with that if you can afford it and that's what you really want. We all have to make the best decision for our overall budgets and our financial goals.
