Default What price to buy meat at?

Hi. I'm pretty new here, and if there is a thread about this I'm sorry. I was just wondering what your opinions were on the best prices to buy different meat cuts and types were.
I received a newsletter from HWC about some pork cuts and prices and I was wondering about other types. I'm in the Augusta Ga area if that helps.

    Thanks.

I'm in Tennessee, so we don't get many meat coupons. I usually watch for Food Lion to put out their $2 off $5 of beef coupons and stock up then on whatever is already on sale. I also like the Tyson $1/1 package of fresh Chicken Breasts coupons. We get those occasionally.

For me, I try to get meat for around $1 to $1.50/pound, depending on the type of meat. Chicken thighs are a good deal for me at .49/pounds, and stock up price is .29/pound. Whole chicken stock up price for me is around $.59/pound.

I am from TN also and she is right fresh meat q's are hard to come by, no wine tags here or tear pads q's either. what I do is watch for marked down meat at walmart I get some good prices there and other than that food gaint has a 5pack deal for $19,then I have a save alot which I dont shop at for its all the way across town and has to many name brand items which is cheaper at walmart most of the time.

You just have to learn you sale prices so you know how low meat gets by the pound in your aerea for its different all over. whats high for me could be cheap for your area.

I'm in NC, and I can't say these are the rock bottom prices, but these are the max prices I will pay per lb. Ground beef 80/20 1.89. Boneless skinless chicken breast $1.79.

about the only meat coupons you'll find are wine tags, purdue perfect portions, tyson boxed or appetizers, hot dogs, maybe some brands of sliced lunch meat (Dagwood was the deal of deals - 10 for $10 and the coupons were .50/1 or $/1 and I did this deal many many times for free Dagwood then the coupons stopped and the stores stopped carrying it), bacon, and stoney brook farms turkey, and Gortons or Seapak or
Contessa products. Well, I did not realize how long the list was until I just made the list.
As far as fresh meat, I just got some rib eye for $4.99 a pound at Food Lion and that is about as low as you'll get. We have stores that will have B1G1 free pack of chicken breast frequently. I'm a skinless, boneless buyer, so on chicken or rib-eye I wait for skinless and boneless.
I'm not sure who has the lowest meat prices, maybe Walmart.

I don't know about there , but around here, they sell the close to date meat really cheap, and it is fine. Sometimes it is brown from sitting under the display lights but it taste just the same. You usually have to get to the stores early in the morning to catch those deals. Also, we have a store here that all of their meat is fresh and you have to ask for what you want, no prepackaged. They keep their markdown meat behind the counter(refrigerated of course) and you have to ask if they have any. You could try asking at all your stores if they do this. HTH

In my defense, I will only bid human beings in the auction forum if it's a MM.
