My tip is to look for wine tags for $ off beef or poultry. I find them all the time at Harris Teeter. Then I use them on the best deal/smallest package I can find in the meat Dept. The last time they had fresh chicken breasts on sale, buy 1 get 2 free, I spent about $1 a package (cooked some fresh and still have some in the freezer).

Lately I have gotten some fantastic deals!

.50 for each pound of Purdue ground chicken with coupons
.49 for each pound of whole chicken

I am quite stocked up for a while now.

I don't like to pay more than $1/pound for turkey or chicken and I don't like to pay more than $2/pound for all other meats.

Now, if I could just find a great deal on some lamb I would be ecstatic!

There are only three grocery stores within my metro area, walmart, publix, and fresh market. I only buy meat and produce at Publix. Walmart actually released statements saying their meat contains at least 12% water/sulfate mix, meaning you're paying for a lot of water there. Publix is obviously more expensive than walmart, I try to buy meat for $3.50 or less per pound, which is usually sale priced at Publix.

I look at the marked down section first, but I try my best to buy meat with overages from q's...example the Mega sale at Dillons today, I had a good overage from the tuna q's...and for free I got 1 lb of beef, 2 things of bacon and 1 lb of sausage. Going back later this week and going to use overage for a little more. When I can't do it that way, I think the .99 lb on ground beef is a great price, but rarely happens so anything under 1.50 lb these days is pretty good

You might email tyson, and tennesse pride direct and ask if they have any coupons. Those companies usually mail out $1/1 q's, so that will help when boneless chicken goes on sale!
    If it isn't free.....it isn't for me!

Wow so many of these prices are really cheap. For me in WA I find that 1.99 for boneless skinless breasts is a good price, that's for Foster farms. Whole chickens have been running about .79 a lb when on a good sale. Right now sirloin steaks will be 2.49 for a 3 day meat sale starting tomorrow, I'll be going and stocking up on those. For me beef has to be under $3 a lb. My local store is the only place I'll buy meat from(well once in awhile SW), they have one of the best meat markets in the whole state of WA, all those prices are for USDA choice, so I guess it's worth it to me. I get everything else for so dirt cheap that I figure I'll spend a little on my meat. I rarely shop WM but I will buy JV sausages there, Oscar Meyer bacon and some other stuff like that, but I really won't go and buy steak there or anything.
Happy momma to a crazy little man(9/09)loving my bundle of energy(9/06)and our proud papa(my love since 94).
