OHHH, I like this.
I think sometimes we get so focued on "but its on sale" or "I have a coupon" we forget that it may be cheaper elsewhere.
Having a small pricebook so you can check is a great idea!
I found a simple way to keep track of prices at the various stores I go to. I use a small address book. I put the products in alphabetically, price, date and initials for each store. There is lots of room for lots of products. This way I know when something I buy regularly is a good sale price or where I can find it cheaper.

Not a bad idea.. but with 2 toddlers, I definitely dont have time to write stuff down lol.. but I usually only shop Publix here.. they take all the coupons and i pretty much know their regular prices..
Oh I love this idea too!!!!
I have 3 kids so I know how not having time in the store to compare prices is like. But since I do 95% of my shopping list/coupon sorting at home, this would be a great tool. I am always taking notes while in the store but some how lose them. LOL

This is a great idea :D I can see myself pulling out a smaller address book than a big old spreadsheet to jot down prices, you could go through your cabinets, fridge etc and have the foods already listed in it before you ever hit the stores, adding only what you wanted to compare prices on while there.
I can see it now, store manager in your aisle, you whip out this big old spreadsheet book and he's on you about what you are doing....
Or....
store manager in your aisle, you whip out your cell phone, and your little address book, and say, ok, got pen, what's the address, adding it to my address book now...uh huh, got it, thanks! talk to you later...manager sure isn't going to be thinking, look at her, she's pretending to talk on the phone while pretending to write down an address and in fact she's really writing down our prices for the competitors.
Wish I'd of had cell phone (and thought of this) back when I used to work in a job where I did go out comparison pricing as part of my job lol.
edited to add...this should be posted in tips for new members, not hidden here for us new to trading :D
I used to do this when I was first married (almost 12 years ago!) I had a little notepad with all the usual stuff I bought with cheapest price I found and the store intial above the price (like sugar 5lb 1.50 WM for WalMart .99 SaL for Save A Lot 1.99 BY for BigY) I didn't use coupons back then but it still helped me stretch my $15 a week budget!
I need to start again... I think my old prices are a little outdated now :)

I love this idea. It sure seems easier than the PDF form that were suggested by one of the blogs that I read. I barely have room for my coupon box after hauling in my toddler, infant, diaper bag and reusable shopping bags. Things need to stay small and lightweight.
