Default Re: Question about coupon stacking

Hi there, I'm also a newbie (3 weeks of couponing now), but I think I have the answer to your first question. You should be able to you a WYB coupon with a cents off coupon. Even better if your store doubles coupons! You'll have to ask at customer services if you don't know if your store doubles...also, most stores have a limit...like my store only doubles up to $1.00 total. So, if I have a .75 off of one coupon, the double is still only up to a dollar. When I look at my receipt when I get to the truck, it will say -.75 man coup and then it will say -.25 store double.

Oh...most manufacturers coupons will say limit one per purchase. I'm pretty sure that like 95% or more of those coupons mean that each item the coupon is for is one purchase, so if you have like 3 of those coupons, then I would buy 3 milks and 3 loaves of bread. You can always tell them you don't want the extra ones if the register doesn't take the coupon....if that is the case, then buy just the one, take your load out to the car and then come back in and buy another milk and bread...or ask the cashier to ring up the extras as separate transactions. :)

Not sure about your second question, but I don't think they will give you $ off on something you are going to get for free...I am guessing you were hoping that coupon would then reduce the price of the lasagna even more?? It's a good deal to begin with tho! :)

For the bread/milk coupon... for each bread and milk that you buy you can use one coupon... have 3 coupons, buy 3 breads/3 milks.

Theoretically, you should be able to use a coupon for the bread because per the wording, the $off is on the milk... but ymmv with this... some stores won't let you stack like that...

As for the second...it also depends on your store... my store (Lowes Food) has the Meal Deals like you are describing... but they don't allow overage... so since the bread, salad, etc are already $0, then the coupon will beep. If your store allows coupon overage (takes off more than the product costs), then you would be in luck and would be able to use all that you have.

Most CSs won't tell / don't know if they give overages or not... but you could try it with one coupon and watch the display screen to see if it takes it off... if it does, then hand her the other coupons. If it beeps, say oops and ask for your coupon back for another trip.

A "purchase" is a single item (or in this case set). A transaction is your entire order.

You make a purchase of milk.
You make a purchase of eggs.
You make a purchase of syrup.
You make a purchase of bisquick.

You have a transaction of all four items.

Then you go home and make a batch of pancakes! (sorry, it is getting late for me!)

Some cashiers / managers will argue over that, but that is what it is.

    Default Stacking Coupons..HELP@

Ok. I am a total newbie here. But I have been couponing for about 4 months now. I have recieved some AMAZING deals. I have been stacking coupons. But now I think I might be doing it wrong as I had a cashier call me on it. I didnt know, but I have been doing it for 4 months and no one said a word..so I thought it was right..so here is my situation:

Say I buy a Glade candle. On the inside of that box is a coupon for 2.00 off my next purchase that expires 12/19/08. Then I have a coupon that I got out of the sunday paper for 1.00 off that expires 01/23/09. Then I have an coupon that I got out of the blinky next to the glade that expires 2/1/10. Can I use ALL of these coupons at once since they are essentially different coupons and not the same mfg coupon?

    No.

You would need to buy 3 items to use all 3 coupons. One coupon per item purchased.

I am shocked that it took this long for you to be called on it. That's what is known as coupon fraud.

Im glad I know now. I always thought that you could use multiple coupons as long as they were different. Not actually the same coupon. Eeek. Now I know.

You can however use a store coupon and a manu. coupon together. You can tell store coupons because they do not have barcodes on them.

I actually did this today at Walgreen's. I used their coupons and then I had my own. I saved a total of $49.77 plus tax on this. My total bill was $33.94 plus I got a $5 Register Reward. It was great!!!

    Default Help with "Piggybacking" coupons

Is it perfectly legal to "piggyback" coupons or is it a YMMV situation?

I was wanting to use the "1.00/2 AIRWICK Scented Oil Refills" Q with the "Get Any Warmer Unit Free (when you buy your favorite AIRWICK Scented Oil Refill Fragrance)" Q.

I'm still buying the refills... just at a discount.

How would I go about explaining to the cashier about the "One per Purchase" fine print, too, if it comes up?

    TIA.

I don't think that is legal to do. You would need 3 refills total and the warmer unit. 1 refill to get the warmer unit free, and 2 to use on the $1/2.

And if the cashier gets confused about "One per purchase" just say "We are doing a transaction. Every item here is a purchase, so basically it's one coupon per item" If they're still confused after you've tried to explain it several times, ask for a manager or another cashier to explain it to them.
