I started doing this about a week and a half ago. I went on my first shopping experience Friday. I hit Krogers and Publix. I spent a total of $286 and saved $221. I have everything I need for the month except staples like milk and bread that I will have to buy. Pretty good for a family of 4! And I know this will get better as my stockpile grows.

Happy Couponing!!

SMILE Re: Newbies ~ Post Your 1st Brag

I've been couponing for awhile, but not as smart as I could have been. Once I discovered stacking coupons and talking to my stores about their coupon and promotion policies, I was able to save a lot more.

For example, on my last shopping trip, I stopped at QFC for a portion of my list. The register showed that I had $155 worth of items in my cart. After check out, store specials, store coupons, and mfr. coupons, I walked out of the store having paid only $70.

I'm not a grocery game player by nature, but this was really gratifying! Still trying to work out the stockpile without going into debt. I read that stockpiling my family's top ten items is a good start. That's what I'll do.

Hope this helps all the newbies out there.

Hi everyone! New here (clearly!) and I'm a college student who's paycheck was cut in half of what it was last semester so I needed to do something FAST to try to save at least a little of my paycheck. Kinda rough to start out with CVS - meh, i'm going to attempt Excederin & Wheat Thins tomorrow but it means I'll have to pay ~$15OOP to get $10 in ECB (I live in Boston so prices at CVS are a little steep --> Where some people's psa $2.49, mine are $5.49 on sale... so I can't use as many coupons sadly) but I saw some good things for next week to spend those ECB on (toothpaste! which I'm running out of) which are freebies when you get the returned ECB so it'll be worth it in the end.

Also, since I'm living in a dorm, I don't get the newspaper so all of my coupons are print-out ones from online... no SS ones but hopefully if I keep this up and go home for the summer I can coupon there and get some good ones to hold on to!

Today's accomplishment: Shaw's
Tribe Hummus BOGO @ $5.49 - .55MFR (doubled) - .75MFR (doubled) = 2.49
1 Cheerios @ $1.99 - .75MFR (doubled) = 0.49
3 Goldfish @ $1 - .75MFR(doubled) = free!
2 Starkist Tuna Pouch @ 1.39 - 1.00 = 0.78 for two
2 Langers Disney Juice @ 2.49 - 1.00 = 3.98 for two
Then I splurged on some baby carrots for $3.99
TOTAL PAID: 11.93
Savings: 23.16

I know the juice wasn't the best deal, but it'll hopefully last me 2.5 weeks. Clearly not things I can just live on for a week or so, but the start of my journey!

I've been at this for about a week and have a few things to post

First trip to Target...
3 Venus Razors
3 Olay body washes
6 Gillette body washes
1 sm. Gillette clinical deo.
5 boxes of Kashi bars

After rebates, total $14.97 - and about $6 of that was the Kashi bars because we were all hungry lol

We did two transactions that trip....second was 3 Glade room & carpet powders - $1.66 each w/0.50 peelie. So 3.48 and it qualified for the SC Johnson $5 rebate I've done this same transaction two more times to get the rebates (and even bigger plus is I was already addicted to using this stuff! lol).

Next big trip was to Walgreens...
3 pkgs of 12 double roll Cottonelle
3 boxes of Kotex liners
3 jumbo packages of Huggies
6 boxes of Kleenex
2 bottles of Aveeno baby shampoo
1 Lady Speed Stick
and 4 frappacinos

It came out to about $39.

This was today's haul...(Walgreeens, Albertsons & Safeway(s) lol)
4 boxes of Grape Nuts
3 pkgs Kotex maxis
1 Fusion razor
1 Fusion shaving gel
1 box of Fusion cartridges
2 JF sheer blonde shampoos
2 JF sheer blonde conditioners
3 tubes of crest w/scope
5 tubes of colgate total advanced
3 rolls of Marcal Small Steps paper towels
and 10 11oz bottles of Dial handsoap

Total was about $21 + tax! And the cartridges were $14 of that! We used some RRs to pay as well. The Marcal was free, and we were just testing the waters and only used 3 coupons in one trip...next time we'll use more at a time.

I've made a few smaller trips here and there over the week....on one I got 2 jumbo packs of Pull-ups for 0.89 each!

I'm absolutely loving this!

Oh....and I even got quite a deal on my newspapers! I have an annual subscription to have 5 Sunday papers delivered to my house every week - $75! That's $0.29 a paper! I think I'm going to pay for the same sub. to my sisters house (5 is the max to one address lol) but I'm still trying to figure out how to do that and not look too nutty

Walgreens for me was:

Vitamins was buy one @$9.99 get one free, use the $5.00 off each using the in store March coupons, so I used both coupons and got them free! Took the manager awhile to figure it out for some reason but it was worth the wait.

Walgreens:

Bought a bottle of 30 day supply of murilax for $22.99, went to murilax website and printed off a $3.00 coupon and also found $5.00 off one in their March coupon book, that was a nice $7.00 off deal when I needed it.

Thumbs Up Re: Newbies ~ Post Your 1st Brag

I got lucky with my first week of couponing because of Harris Teeter's Triples. I went yesterday and got

2 Lysol bathroom cleaner
2 Lysol all purpose cleaner
1 kitchen cleaner
2 Lysol toilet bowl cleaner
1 country crock spread
2 French's mustard
2 French's Worcestershire sauce
1 Gallon Organic Milk

Total OOP: 7.94 (4.99 was the milk, anyone know a way to get this cheaper?)
Total savings: $30.xx

This is pretty addicting, I just hope I can keep it up!
