Thumbs Up Re: Newbies ~ Post Your 1st Brag

I just started really getting into clipping and saving. I went to Kroger last night and my total was $157. After all my coupons and discounts added up, my out of pocket was $97. I felt like I had just won a contest.
I almost told a complete stranger out of the blue about it today but thought I would look really odd, so I held back. LOL

Ok, so I'm pretty proud of this....and hopefully I'm getting the hang of things. I know some things I could've done better on, but for my first real attempt I was shocked at how much I saved.

-Kroger Fries - Sale $1.89 (saved $0.10)
-Birds Eye Frozen Veggies - Sale 2 x $1.99 (saved $0.50 each)
-Welch White Grape Juice - Sale 2 x $2.99 (saved $1.80 each)
-all Laundry Detergent - Sale 2 x $3.49 (saved $1.50 each)
-Betty Crocker Instant Potatoes - Sale 4 x $1.49 (saved $.36 each)
-Kroger brand Dish Soap - $0.99 (only thing not on sale)
-Quilted Northern Bath Tissue - Sale $5.99 (saved $2.50)

I qualified for the $5.00 off mega sale and I took my reuseable bags in for $0.04 off each (2 bags = $0.08). Plus the additional amount saved from my coupons (10 different coupons I found in my stash and online).

Spent $17.63
Saved $26.32 (Coupons + Kroger Plus savings)

I'm pretty excited since I saved more than I spent. How'd I do?

For $4.54
I started out with $7 ECB. And i only had manufacturer coupons no internet printables. and if they had the one i had the $3 off coupon for i would have only spent $3.54 but the one i got had a $2 off coupon so since they were out of the one i wanted I spent $1 more then planned. It was a long thought process and writing and scribbling and adding subtracting. I got this all at cvs I got the glad products and aussie first. $4 ECB back on that then i got the 2 cereals and used $1 off MFQ and $4 ECB. Then i used a BOGO and got 2 herbal essances and used the $2 ECB. The sense and spray alone without coupons was $6 so i am quite proud of myself and it was sooo exciting!

i am writing out the list of how and what i spent.
Started out with $7 ECB from revlon spend $15 get $7 I had a $3 off revlon cvs coupon so i just got my eyeshadows.
tonight i got glade sense and spray $6
Glade oil candle holder $3
Glade oil candle refill $3
Aussie shampoo $2.88
I had $2 MFQ off sense and spray
BOGO on the glade candle holder and refill
$1 off ausie
then uses the $7 ECB
It was $2 something with tax woulda been a dollar cheaper but they didnt have the one i had the $3 coupon and i was determined to do my planned out shopping trip.
I got $4 ECB back so i got 2 boxes general mill cereal 2 for $6 with $2 ECB. I had a $1 off MFQ for the ceral plus the extra bucks so i paid i beleive 1.14 for 2 boxes of cereal.
Then my last transaction i got herbal essance shampoo and conditioner at $2.88 each and i had a BOGO MFQ and used $2 ECB that i got of my ceral. my total was $4.54 but would have been $3.54 if they had the original glade i had the coupon for. considering the sense and spray was $6 alone before coupons just with the regular sale price i beleive i did good and hubby loves that our room smells nice and we got cereal and shampoo!

HAPPY DANCE Re: Newbies ~ Post Your 1st Brag

Ok, I think I did ok this weekend. I haven't had time to do the math, or take pics, but we have a side by side fridge & a stand alone freezer. There is no room to put anything else in the freezers or the pantry. Our local United had split chicken breasts for $.89 lb, regular $3.59 a lb. Got 4 packs. Took them home & there were 5 breasts in a pack. They also had cubed b/s chicken cutlets buy 1 get 1 free. I got 4 packs of those (4 in a pack, average of $5.00 a pack). HEB had lunchables 5 for $5.00, spareribs 5 lb for $5, chicken leg quarters 5 lb for $5. Their Colgate toothpaste was $1, and I had $.99 coupon, plus BOGO coupon.

Finally went to the local Albertsons. I don't go there much because they are so much more expensive when things are not on sale. But, they are the only grocery store in town that has blinkies, and tear offs. I spent $150 - but I received $81 in savings after coupons, BOGO, and sales prices. They had all of their McKormick spices 1/2 off (of course - I FORGOT my coupons for them LOL). I am going back this weekend to see if they are still 1/2 off. I stocked up this past weekend for it, but I want to see if their saffron is on sale. I don't use it that much because of the price, but since it is so expensive I can stock up while it is on sale. I bought some resusable bags so I also got the discount per bag at both United and Albertsons.

I also got the Glade MM from Target. I haven't filled out any rebates yet, but they are next on my list. Since I have a cat, I plan on going to Target this weekend for the MM on the cat litter. I also plan on going to CVS & WAGS for the sales there. Hubby is deployed, so I am really stocking up at this point. All I seem to eat anymore is cereal (which Albertson's had a killer deal on after the coupons).
I've always couponed, but since joining here, I have learned a WEALTH of information. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR POSTS!!!

HAPPY DANCE Re: Newbies ~ Post Your 1st Brag

So I did my first double transaction today at PNS. My first order came to 15.83 and I saved 18.35. My second transaction came to 29.42 and my savings were 27.65. So all in all I spent 45.56 and saved 46.00. Not bad for my first attemp. I was a little stressed because DH called and wanted a few items not on my list. Grr. So roughly 10.00 was not planned on in that 2nd transaction. That was stuff that I didn't have coupons for. Anyway saving more than I spent makes my day. Even my skeptical DH was wow you saved 46.00!? I was buying some bigger ticket items too. Like two 12 double roll Northern bath tissue (originally 8.29 and I got them for 5.29) and Folgers coffee (reg 8.49 and I got it for 3.49). There was a coupon in the PNS ad for $3 off and I had another coupon. And the coffee coupon said do not double and they still did!! That doesn't happen too often. I have no idea how people get their bills cut by 75% or more. I did almost exactly 50%. For my first real try I am happy with the whole thing. Go me! I have to admit I was beaming after DH helped me put away the groceries.

I have been learning so much from the experienced couponers over the last 6 weeks. Finally able to make a big save at Publix. I had $175.00 worth of groceries in a full cart. Got to the register and was little squimish. After coupons, in store savings, and store coupons, I paid $45.00 for my groceries. Saving $130.00!!! I was hooked after the first time, now it has become a way of life.. Good luck to everyone.
