I thought I'd read this quick before my first couponing trip - it's excellent information! Thank you all so very much. I had no idea there was so much to know about rain checks! Now, I'm actually excited to see if I can get some today! Getting permission to use your expired coupons on them, though - that's GENIUS!

I'm just wondering can you get rain checks on the perishable items even if they still have those items in stock?

yes you can at most stores if you were going to buy let's say milk and you wanted one that had a later exp.date and all they had were one's that would soon exp. and the sale was only good for that week you can talk with a grocery or dairy teammember or managerand get them to tell the service team to give you a raincheck. But it's very important that you get the people in the back of the store to agree before you get to the front!

I have never gotten a rain check before. I was wondering how you redeem a rain check? Do you have to take your purchases up to customer service or do you just hand the rain check to the cashier? Thanks.

Hi,

I just use my rain checks at the register and give it to my cashier. One thing to note is that it is BEST to USE COUPONS WITH YOUR RAIN CHECKS. That way you can get more savings.

Wait (if you can) to when your rain check products are on sale (i.e. Triples, Doubles, etc.) and combine the rain checks with the coupons and your Grocery Shopping Cards for even better savings!

That way you will enhance your shopping experience. Especially if your stores offers Buy One--Get One Free or Buy One-Get One 1/2 Off sales (i.e. Harris Teeter, Kroger, etc.). Using your coupons frugally gets you more "bang for the coupon buck"--

Hmmmm good point! We can't get Rain Checks if the product is in stock though can we? How awesome would that be? Hehe.

I have another question about these--I'm guessing that a Register Rewards sort of deal (Walgreens, CVS, etc.) wouldn't fall under this umbrella. It's such a bummer to want to grab the deal and see a cleared shelf.

Thanks for the helpful info. I have used rain checks at the grocery store and have found that store staff were really nice about issuing them!

One thing I'd add is always save the flier. I recently used a raincheck the week after it was issued, and the cashier actually said to me, "I don't think that's how much they were". I had the flier with me so I showed her she was mistaken.
I usually try to cut the item out of the ad, and staple it to the rain check.

I still dont think this has been addressed here....what about register promotions like spend $15 on select gm cereals get a catalina for free milk...would you get the rc for the $15/milk deal and the actual sale prices?

also what about ecb deals specifically black friday...how do they do a rc for sale price plus ecb deals?

my pick n save just gives a rc that says the product name ans "select varieties" but doesnt specify which ones and i never remember so i can get ff or reg ranch for example. plus no limits!
