I'm new to coupon'ing and have a question about expired coupons. I've seen a few posts on expired coupons and am a little confused. When a coupon expires, can you still use them? I've seen on the Trading sites folks looking for expired coupons but I thought these were garbage...can anyone clarify for me before I throw out all my 2009 coupons!

I hear that some stores will accept expired coupons, but I have never found a store that would! I know that expired coupons up to 6 months old can still be used at military commissary stores..I have a very LARGE box of expireds that I would love to give to someone that can use them. I am in Upstate South Carolina. The box is too large for me to ship...

If you are looking for a military family to mail expireds to, check out the link in my signature. We have over a dozen HCW members who are stationed overseas! Just pick a name on the list and send them a PM asking for their address

As far as I am aware there are only 2 sets of people who can use expired coupons.

1. People who have stores, mostly located in the midwestish, whose store policy it is to take expired coupons up to 'X' time. Not every store will take expireds, and you would need to check with the manager of each individual store for their policy.

2. People on military bases overseas can use expired coupons up to 6 months.

I also just want to mention that effective today (1/4/2010) the USPS has increased the postage rate on the large FPO/APO Flatrate priority mailing boxes up to $12.50 (from $11.95). (It is still a discount of $2.00 from the regular flat rate)

I cleaned out my coupon box today and have lots of expired coupons that I'd love to send overseas. From reading the posts, it looks like I have to post a few more times so I have PM priviledges. I usually read and don't post, darn it. I really need to get more involved with you guys! I love reading the posts so here goes. I don't even have a picture up yet, I'll have to work on that too.

I haven't been collecting coupons long (I think since 3/28) but I started getting really organized this week and I have a crapload of expired coupons. I am not completely finished yet but hopefully I will be done before this coming Sunday. Anyways, I would love to send them to the military if I could get an address. I am sure though what exactly is acceptable. Should I send all the coupons or just food ones or something? Please let me know what I can do to help. TIA!
