Honestly...if your a newbie I would be hesitant to start at Walgreens.

And with all the target register fiasco....skip them for a bit.

I'd probably do walmart or your local grocery store, family dollar or dollar general.

If nothing you just use a few coupons on stuff you normally buy...but the kicker is while at the store (walmart won't have much though) look for peelies and hang tags and tear pads. Look for items you would use...and/or look for coupons that look pretty good even if it isn't something you would purchase and take a few home.

    When I started here a couple years ago (well...actually 2 years and 2 days...but who's counting )

I decided I wanted help with Kroger (I live in Cincinnati). I also had heard that you could save a LOT shopping at CVS. So I approached it from this direction...I focused on Kroger and CVS. It was perfect timing for CVS in my opinion. I got "good" enough at CVS to feel confident enough to jump into "black friday" sales.

So...that's what I did. I also joined the TNT program. I didn't necessarily jump into trading immediately...but I wanted to have access to members who were there to answer questions. The TNT forum is a fantastic way to get a wealth of information in a small space. There are so many people there that know so much and are really willing to help you out.

Anyway...that's what I suggest. I'll be honest, I now really focus only on Meijer, Kroger, CVS (as my stores) and then I like doing things in the trading forums (love trains...and of course AUCTIONS ).

Remember most important...don't do everything at once. Just one step at a time. That's my

It took me awhile to start really collecting a lot of coupons. So starting out was a little challenging...but people in each forum are really helpful with creating scenarios and such to assist you even if you have minimal coupons...so that's always nice. Plus now that so many coupons are available via the internet...that definitely helps!

Hello there. being completely new to couponing....I am trying to work up my own strategy which is taking me at least 2-3 hrs to gather what i need and put everything together so I can try to look like I know what I'm doing in the store. I did happen to save $61.10 between three stores and I know I can do better! coupon mom has made my list making pretty easy. I still feel lost and I know there are more stretegic ways to do this. all i do is print, search, find, print.....any opinions on what track im on are welcome please.. thank you all!

Welcome to HCW! When I first started, I used a spiral notebook and wrote out all my scenarios, including each coupons I'd planned on using (MQ and store Q) and had a running total for each transaction. Printing all those things would have taken way too much ink/paper. Also, make sure you're prepared for changes in your scenarios in case something is out of stock.
Also, focus on just a couple of the main stores that you shop, and add one when you're more comfortable. It's really easy to get overwhelmed when you're new.
Posting your questions in the individual store forums will be really helpful. Members can help you with your scenarios.
Most of all, have fun; and don't be too hard on yourself when your scenario doesn't work out as you've planned. It just takes practice.

CVS has two easy deals going on this week:

    1) Nivea for Men: pay $4.99, get $4.99 in ECBs. Use a $1/1 coupon from 7/25 or 8/29 to make this deal a money-maker!

    2) Alive vitamins: pay $9.99, get $9.99 in ECBs. There was a printable $1/1 coupon recently that may still be available?

I would recommend starting with ONE store, get that store down. CVS is the easiest in my opinion to start with and then you can start adding more. If you try and do all the stores at first, you will go crazy and burn out.

I am new at couponing. I have done it a little in the past, but I found out that sometimes you could get items free. We have 1 grocery store here that doubles and every Wed., they double them up to a dollar. I was hoping to see more current threads on how to get started and how to shop.

Ok, I am new. I have no clue on how to do this, but I find it to be a challengee so I am ready to learn. Do you know how I would start looking for coupons for Kings Soopers, Safeway in Colorado?
