OK ! so.... I am sure this is somewhere in this thread but I really have a hard time reading throuhg 23 pages of 40 posts each...
Here's my question...
What are the dumpsters you really look for?
Behind a specific store?
How did you go about it the first time? just trial and error?

Thanks..

i went to my recycle center and asked.

they have three red dumpsters marked just for newspaper.

I guess my situation is easy. Not sure how others go about it.

We have lots of recycling bins in our city. They are newspaper and paper recycling bins. I have never had any problems. They all sit on private property, a business, a church, a school etc.... They all also say DO NOT climb in this bin. I throw my son in all the time. One I go to is on a very busy main street, the other is a country church and secluded. I have talked to many people coming up to put their paper in, some just hand you their newspapers. A cop even stopped someone on the main road right in front of us. He just looked at us and went about his business. My son is 13 and has a great time because sometimes he finds books, magazines, etc to his liking.

Ok all the dumpsters I dive in are on private property and say do not climb in. So I just reach my hand into the dumpster and see what I can reach. The first time I was scared out of my mind but now not so much. I dd right across from the fire dept and they never say anything.

I have a very funny story to tell that happen a few years ago while dumpster diving. Well i was driving and BF was diving literally. We were looking for Pepsi points and Marlboro miles. One of the prime diving spots was behind two small stores Eckerds and Bi-Lo, visible from 2 streetss. BF is all the way in the dumpster, I'm pulled up facing the dumpster, the green ones, 6ft tall. What do I see out my rearview mirror a car with 3 sets of antenans!! I'm thinking oh shet we are in troble. I'm calling out for Dwayne and he can't hear me in the dumpster. He gets out finally and the guy in the unmarked police car asked what we are doing. Dwayne says looking for Pepsi points and Marlboro miles. I tell the cop we just left Ingles and I have the receipt in my hand if you need to see it. He said no. He left and then we left. Well we get around to the front of the stores there are 3 more law cars, city cop, deputy sheriff and a state troper. Never did find out what was happening.

there is a recycling dumpster at the church across the street. Somebody dumps at least 6 Sunday papers every week. I can't always reach them (tonight I used my kitchen tongs!) and I just can't jump in it. I am the president of a non-profit in town and my husband is a local politician. seriously. I always bring some sort of newspaper with me to "recycle". Sometimes I bring a phonebook and pretend that I'm fishing it out because the sign says "no phonebooks"

LICandOSS is on a distinguished road
Default First Dumpster Dive, questions

So I went around the apartment complex today to the various recycle bins in search of flyers. Rather, it was yesterday, so a Tuesday. I got 2-3 copies of SS and RP, mostly because they'd already been dumped and I just happened to get some stragglers. I also went to a local drop center and searched the big containers a little, not much luck there either. My question is, have people noticed a certain day when the dumpsters seem the most full of goodies? Is it Monday, right after, or do people like to wait? I don't know, just thought people may have noticed a pattern. Thanks!

I've been searching newspaper bins for a couple of months now and have yet to find a pattern other than when the bin is emptied. But I really don't think I have enough data to give a good opinion on this, sorry!
