I go to 2 different recycling bins here in town. The one is always full with newspapers left from someone that delivers them. Normally, I will go thru them, but the other day, I just took 2 bundles. There were still about 5 bundles left. I usually go about 2 times a week, and take back what I haven't used so hopefully someone else can. My oldest daughter goes with me, and we dig thru the bins. She is sooo funny and I can never get her to leave. She says "Mom I can't leave, I'm about to hit the jackpot." HAHA!!

I love dumpster diving . Last week my buddy and I were sitting in the dumpster laughing and visiting. I looked up at the window above her head and there stood a cop with his flash light. I was so surprised all I could say was "Oh S---!"
This cop happen to attend a coupon class we taught about a month ago. Didn't say a word about us being in there. Just said we needed better flash lights.

Okay, I'm in need of some help on this one....

I REALLY want to find a place where I can snag some free extra inserts, because my newspaper bill is starting to get outrageous, between ordering from a clipper and 9280938498234 newspapers a week.

I've called my solid waste department ( The people who handle recycling ) and they told me I can't dd in their recycling bins because I might make a mess. ) I called a gas station and they said the local paper always collects their left over papers.. I didn't think to ask if they could pull their inserts out for me before they turned them in..

I'm REALLY trying to find a legal, safe, and profitable ( in coupon sense, anyway ) way to do this.. anyone have any great ideas??

Try a Yahoo/Google search for public drop-off recycling bins in your area. You may get lucky that way.....I know that's how I found the one I frequent....the bonus is it's used by a newspaper distributor ! Good Luck and Wear Your Gloves!

Someone mentioned in another thread that we were promoting something illegal here by suggesting that folks dumpster dive for coupons. I have said it before in this thread but it bears repeating. In some places it might very well be illegal or considered trespassing to dumpster dive. BUT in some places it is perfectly legal and fine. Please look for signage on or near your dumpsters before diving and when in doubt, especially if the bins are located on private property ask the owners first. It never hurts to ask first, the worse thing someone can tell you is no. But you might be surprised when they say "sure go ahead".

Additionally we are not talking about donation bins where charities are asking for newspaper donations. HOWEVER, many times if you ask the church or whomever is asking for the donations of newspaper if you can dive, they will say yes as they cannot recycle the glossy inserts anyways.

I went to my recycling drop-off bins yesterday and scored about 100+ Sunday papers!! It was such a thrill - now I can give my friends inserts - and it is just in time for a coupon class my best friend is giving tomorrow. I can't wait to go back and check that recycle bin soon! everyone should try it!

OMG! Today was my first dd expirience. I took all my 4 kids and had the older to jump in. they had a ball! I scored a few inserts and they had a good time all and all i think it was a success. It is something I will do again.

I think I am addicted to dumpster diving. I drive up right next to the dumpster and its so full all the time I just stand on the side and reach in the hole. My kids sit in the car watching their movie and eating snacks in their car seats that they can't get out of and I open the door so I can hear and see them. I get so many inserts its not funny. I think I get a high from it.
