Newton NC??

Anyone from Newton NC?? My dh is going there for the next 2 months to work at the new Target Distribution Center that just opened, (he has worked at the one in Lugoff, SC for the past 4 years, and is cross trained everywhere) Anyhow, we were considering relocating there, if he liked it there, but I have never heard anything about it, (Much less been there to check it out myself) I was just wondering what stores were there, how the schools were etc. I'm not finding out too much about it online, besides the Chamber of Commerces website, I was hoping for some opinions from real people who live there.

It's lust outside of Hickory where I live so I'd be glad to tell you about the area. What would you like to know?

Some of the biggest things is are the school systems good, and is it a family oriented area?? My dh was wondering if there was a Target there, only Target I found was in Hickory, I believe that is about a 30 min drive or so from Newton??? I can probably think of a million more questions I can ask in the next few weeks. The biggest though is the schools.

I live about 45 minutes from Newton to the north in a more rural area. The Hickory area is nice and close, but I don't know a lot about Newton except that it is small. You would probably do most of your shopping in either Hickory or Moorsville. We relocated here about 7 years ago, and I think it is a family friendly area. As with everything else, the state of NC and Catawba County are in a major downtown and unemployment is high right now. I am not sure if you would be looking for a job, but it might be hard to find one. The school systems are good, but they are losing some funding this year (I am a teacher). I wouldn't think of moving back to WV, but there are sacrifices to make everywhere.

We just moved away from the area and if my husband had been able to find work we definitely would have stayed!! Look into Maiden, it is a fairly small town just southwest of Newton with EXCELLENT schools. Many of the teachers there went to School there themselves. Hickory and Charlotte are both within driving distance
