HELP Help in Phoenix, AZ

Hi! I'll be visiting my parents in June in Phoenix and want to teach them the basics of couponing. I grew up in northern Arizona, but now live in Kentucky, so don't know the tricks for Phoenix! They are pretty clueless, so I'm hoping if you live in Phoenix you can help a bit! They shop mostly at Fry's, but will shop at Bashas, Safeway, and Albertsons if the sales are good. I'll be checking out the store's forums to see what is on sale and the good deals you all have found, but was hoping you could also give me some tips! Can anyone tell me the coupon policies or quirks for any of the stores? Any good, hot places to shop? Which newspapers should I buy when I'm there? Any places sell double papers for cheap? Random things that I should know that would be helpful? Anything you can tell me will be greately appreciated! You all are great- thanks for all the help!

Hi!

Fry's, Basha's, and Safeway all double up to a dollar. Meaning that a $1 coupon is face value, but lower values double up to a $1. If you have a .75/1 it will ad .25 to be $1.

Albertson's is currently not doubling - but they occassionally do - it is advertised in the flyer. They do take competitors coupons, including those from Fresh and Easy, who occassionally put out a $/$$ coupon.

I personally think Fry's is the best value - but you know the drill, it is dependent on sales and what Qs are out there.

I am sure others will add to this.

I do the majority of my grocery shopping at Fry's, and yes I agree with paukinikini that they are the best value consistently. I do a little at Albertsons and Safeway, from time to time if they have an awesome deal going on.

Our grocery ads come in Wednesdays mail but all the stores have them online so they can be looking at them early Wednesday and figure out what they want to get prior to getting their mail.

The Arizona Republic is the paper with inserts. They had an offer when I subscribed for Sundays paper only (not the whole week) for $1 per week. There are also lots of newspaper vending machines still around. Many will still have Sundays paper in them during the week and if there are some left, they can get extra copies for $.75.

I know of a couple subscriber boards out here where you can get hooked up to get extra Sundays for $1 a piece. Other than that, I have not heard of any other way to get extras for a discount. The paper off the newstand on Sunday costs $2.

I'm still pretty new to all of this myself. Hope this info helps in some way.

The Republic is definately the better paper for coupons.

I like Frys best but do go to the other stores if there is a good deal.

If your folks are seniors thye have 10% off on the first Wednesday of the month. Any bit helps.

Good Luck!

I get coupons from the Arizona Republic on Sundays and usually shop at Fry's, but will got to the other stores if there is a good deal somewhere else. Fry's doubles up to the value of $1, but they only double 3 of the same coupon in a single transaction, so if they are buying quantity they may need to split up transactions.

Welcome home, have you heard of CouponSense.com? They have a great connection with the Arizona Republic Newspaper,Wed., Sat., Sun., plus one add'l. paper for $14.08 per month and each add'l. Sun. paper for $1.00. The papers will have all the coupons. The one I buy in the stores, I have found, do not.

Coupon Sense also have a first month special for $4.00. They put the coupons and the sales together. They have been a great resource for our family of seven.

If I can be of service please let me know I live in Goodyear, AZ.

Good Luck, Linda
