Howdy from Texas!
My wife understands. I am from Chicago and we went to live there until she became really bad homesick so we came back to Indiana. And now she is as happy as ever.
I'm in Muncie. There's not a whole lot here but I'll answer any questions. What are you thinking about moving for?
We are a interracial couple and the town we are living in has very closed minds. So we dont want our kids to feel left out or get hurt by their words. So we are looking for a town that is better
Yeah, Muncie's pretty good with that, especially because of the university. In Muncie we have Meijer (they're great with coupons), Walmart, Target, a small Kmart, and a really little mall. The only grocery store is Marsh but you can get a Kroger about 20-30 min away. Anything else you want to know?
So how coupon friendly is the stores. Also unrelated to coupons but how much is rent usually in the nicer parts of town?
Most of the stores are pretty coupon friendly. The walmart on the south side has some idiots that don't know how to deal with coupons but I've never had any other problems. Meijer's usually where I go, they're great. Rent can vary a lot. The north side is nicer but there aren't any really unsafe areas. I live in the industrial area and its not the nicest but its really cheap. When I was in college here (graduated 4 years ago) I lived in a pretty nice apartment. It was a two bedroom and we each paid $285 plus utilities. I'm not sure how much it has gone up. Jobs are kinda a pain here though. Ball State is a big employer. Sallie Mae and IBM (in Daleville) are two other biggies.
I live in Valparaiso in Northwest Indiana.
