help with buying/finding coupons

hi everyone im only a couple weeks into couponing and i cant seem to grasp buying coupons and if i do how much should i spend and should i buy the whole insert or seperate coupons? the area i live in doesnt get red plum and im not sure if i get p&g please help !!!

i usually do just what i need coupon wise. join the trader in training program here and you can find some great traders that get multiples each week to trade with. they post in the trade forums. once you see what coupons are going for in the trade forum, it will be easier to understand what you should expect to pay for them. remember hot and free coupons tend to go for a little more...

i will add that my area gets like 2 coupons (not two inserts, like 2 coupons) in the sunday paper...i gave up last year getting papers...i just trade for what i want and then put the little ones in my ISO list and then jump on some trains and get the rest there.

Have you tried the coupon database? It lists all the coupons available. You can select the ones you're "wishing" for and it will tell you who has them. I love it.

whole insterts are good for trading or train rides. But for the most part its really better just to buy the coupons you need at about 10% of face value and the shipping. With inserts you have to watch out for you may spend more for them and shipping than you will on coupons but if you know what coupons are in them and what you will use and you are going to trade the other will thats the way to go alot of the time.

it dont list all the ones availabe only the ones that users have placed in the list and not all users use the database for it to slow or dont load at all..

Our newspaper offers a Sunday of only rate of $20.00/year. I've only been couponing since January, but the 3 subscriptions I take have definitely paid for themselves in just free products. I can also get subscriptions to two different large urban papers where I live. I haven't researched those yet, but I may. Are you within 2 hours of a large urban area? If so, you might want to explore home delivery of those papers. For example, I can get the SanFrancisco Chronicle home delivered even though I live 98 miles away.
