| | Void if transferred? :Wave:Hello every one. I have been reading everyones posts on here and i have a few questions about where you all get you whole inserts. I mean to buy them. I have started letting everyone that i know to save them for me ( but a lot of people use or save the most of them) and i have been buying a few news papers every week, but... i have found a few places to buy whole inserts but a lot of them say that they will be stamped or what not and will say transferred. My question is why would people sell the whole inserts if they are NON TRANSFERABLE. I know that a lot of places (eBay) they are sold, but you are paying for the persons time to find the coupons, you are not buying the actual coupons.
PLEASE HELP !!! |

| | Re: Newbie with insert questions.... I dont' always get multiple inserts but last week I found a gas station on Monday that still had sunday papers so I asked him what they did with them and before I could ask for the inserts he told me I oculd have the inserts. You can try that. THere is also dumpster diving. You can also just buy the coupons that you want from a clipping service or find someone online to buy whole inserts from that don't stamp them transfered. Where are these inserts that they are going to stamp "transfered" on?

| | Re: Newbie with insert questions.... I tried the asking around stuff and all i got from most of the places that sell the papers is " thats a good question"
i asked what they did with the papers that they don't sell on that day. I guess i will try again in the morning. As far as dumpster diving, i would love to but between my job, working 50+ hrs a week, and the family, i cant seem to find the times ( oh the internet doesn't help either trying to find where to go to get all of these deals)
As far as the site to by the inserts... i wont post the exact name ( im a newbie and thought i read not to putout side links to other sties) but this is what it says.... Be advised: Most coupons have some sort of non-transferability policy, i.e. "Void if transferred." In other words, if you order coupons from XXXXX, they will likely have language indicating they are no longer valid once they have transfered from XXXXX to you.
I was about to purchase them but then saw this and came to a halt. LOL dh is always getting on me about reading the fine print of thing and then not purchasing stuff because i don't understand the verbiage. |

| | Re: Newbie with insert questions.... Go to smaller gas stations like plez u, circle K or 7-11. Try ones where you get gas at the most. Once you get to know the employees, they will work with you and find out for you.

| | Re: Newbie with insert questions.... Most coupons have the bit about "void if transferred", but I have NEVER heard of anyone getting into any trouble over this, or even having coupons refused for this. I mean, really, how is a store going to know where you got your coupons? And how can a manufacturer possibly enforce this? You understand that this statement doesn't just apply to things like ebay and clipping services, it applies to people who informally give each other coupons, stores or shoppers who tape coupons to products in stores, stores or libraries who have coupon trading boxes and any situation where one person gives a coupon to another. So this seems like a policy that is unenforceable, and indeed, I have never ever heard of it being enforced in any situation.
What I want to know is where are these places that stamp "transferred" on the coupons they offer? I have never heard of this before. The warning that you posted doesn't say anything about this; it just says that most coupons have a "void if transferred" clause on them. |

| | Re: Newbie with insert questions.... There are many ways to get inserts.
1. Ask friends, family, co-workers, church members, etc.
2. Ask around (in person) at gas stations, grocery stores, etc. about what they do with the unsold Sunday papers. Best time is to go late at night Sunday or EARLY Monday AM before the papers have been switched.
3. Think of where papers are sold and left around, IE: Starbucks, Laundromats, Cafes and coffee shops, nursing homes, hospitals, doctors offices, library.
4. Buy extra newspapers.
5. Clipping services
6. Trade here at HCW (make a post in the trading forums)
7. EBay
Most coupons do say something to the effect that the coupons are void if transferred. What the heck that means is up in the air and would be up to the manufacturers to know that the coupons you redeemed at the grocery store were transferred (from whom to whom?) and frankly it is my opinion that the manf. have bigger fish to fry.
The only thing you need to watch is "sellers" that get thousands and thousands of insert coupons and pay particular attention if they get them really early.

| | Re: Newbie with insert questions.... chanfu LOL after i read your explication of the wording on the coupons itself, i re-read what i had posted. I guess that i just assumed that they were putting it on there them selves, it did not say stamped with anything, but after your explication, i understand. I guess i just over analyze things. You know when they say you are glass is half full or half empty person, well when it comes to me, i want to know ..... well was the glass warm and sitting on a table with food on it? well if so, was there food eaten off the plate because if so, then i would assume it to be half empty LOL but if it is cold and in the kitchen, half full because it was just pored LOL Ill will have to try asking corner stores tonight or in the morning. |

| | Transfer of coupons..... violation... thoughts. Ok I know most of us has read our coupons. They all say void if transfered. I have thought alot about that. That basically means moving a coupon from original owner, right? So doesent that make virtualy all my coupons void? I get them from people online. I have even got a little paronoid about saying where I got them bc they clearly state Void if transfered.
Any thought on this?
This is from the CIC website: ""The sale or transfer of coupons is a violation of virtually all manufacturers’ coupon redemption policies""
P.s Dont get me wrong, I dont plan on not trading coupons lol. Just curious to what others thought on the subject.:wink068:

| | Re: Transfer of coupons..... violation... thoughts. I have been doing some clipping today, and you are right. They pretty much all say that. I guess I don't worry about that too much. I have heard of one person's ebay auction of coupons being pulled after the manufacturer complained (this was what I HEARD. Don't know the person, so can't verify it). I think that there are so many coupons that just get thrown away, that people like us who use lots of coupons are such a minority, that it is not a big deal.
Not exactly a prize-winning paragraph, :-), but that is what I think.
Very good topic though, OP.

| | Re: Transfer of coupons..... violation... thoughts. That's why most people who sell or trade coupons include this disclaimer phrase:
"I am not selling coupons, I am selling my TIME to gather, sort and cut coupons"
But I know what you mean -- when I am using multiples of coupons, I have had people ask me "where did you get all those coupons" and I'm loath to tell them that someone gave them to me, or I bought them. And I don't want to tell them that I dumpster dived either. So, I just tell them that I buy alot of newspapers. I'm all paranoid about it, and in reality it turns out that they didn't even know there were coupons in the papers!! I had one woman today say "Really?? They are in the papers EVERY week??" | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
