My brother is a store manager of a food chain store in the NE (I will not name the store for anonymity). He told me his store does not get reimbursed for Qs. They take all the Qs they get, sell or send (?) them to a clearinghouse and they sort them and send them in for reimbursement from the companies (i.e. P&G, GM, etc.). This makes sense as it would be time-consuming to have the cashiers (or another employee) go through all the Qs. Do you understand this to be the way it works? I always thought the stores got reimbursed directly. Thanks for your input.
P.S. I didn't want to ask my bro too many questions on the topic as he made this comment: "I used my first coupon ever the other day". He is a nice guy, but they seem to be "above" couponing. I know you guys know what I am talking about! So much for conversing about Qs with him!![]()
Most if not all coupons go to a clearinghouse. The stores sell the q's to the clearinghouse(usually based on weight not dollar value), the clearinghouse sorts and sends to manufacturers for reimbursement...so the reimbursement $$ goes to the clearinghouse, but when you think about it the store is being reimbursed by the manufacturer just through a 3rd party.
When I worked at Target this is how they did it, they sold by weight to a clearinghouse and the clearinghouse did all the sending to manufacturers to reimburse themselves.
