Contacting Manufacturers to get q's~?

How do you get high value/free product q's from manufacturers? I mean I know you can contact them...but how often should/could you? Do you call or email? Do you keep a list so you know which company you contacted and when so you don't over call them? Do you compliment or complain? Or do you tell them you switch from X to their product and like it better?

I usually will tell them that I love their product and then I ask if they can send me any coupons. Some companies will send high value or free coupons and others don't. Sometimes I think it depends on what they have available when you request it.
