Default Do you think it's worth it to buy the Sunday paper?

So, I've been couponing for ayear now and I'm getting the hang of it. I've been getting my q's primarily for clipping services or ebay. I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth it to subscribe to the Sunday paper or to buy them from the store?

Also, is it any cheaper to subscribe or is it the same price as if you bought them weekly???

I like to stockpile things we use regularly, but I only keep a few month supply - I don't generally buy more than 5-10 of an item unless it has a very long shelf-life. So, basically, I was thinking of buying 5 papers/week, but I wondered if it would be worth it or if I should just buy the coupons I need/want?????

Just wanting to pick the brains of all you veteran's out there. I still have much to learn. Thanks

In my area the subscriptions are very expensive. I've just started getting back in to couponing. Someone had posted you can get the Sunday papers at Dollar Tree for a dollar. Last week I bought 5. I think it depends on what coupons are in them if it's worth it or not. For me the subscription isn't worth it. Some weeks I prob won't buy any, some weeks like last week with lots of good coups it's worth it to me.

I agree with Chevelle, I just back into couponing as well and the subscriptions are expensive, I usually just buy about 5 papers on Sunday to make my shopping trip for that day but I get more inserts through out the week that doesnt cost anything....There is some Sundays that there isnt any coupons like on easter. SO it all just depends on how you like to do it. Which the extra Q's you do get from the paper can be tradeable...

I think it depends on the price of the paper and what kind of qs you get. For me, buying 5 papers is pretty excessive most weeks because I don't get any hots qs and they're all $/2 which I can't double. However, I can buy a Sunday paper with qs for $0.90 at Rite Aid - it's typically $1, and I get 10% off everything. So if I want extras, I go there. There's another local paper that's $2.75 on Sundays!

I buy mine from the dollar tree also. Yes it is worth it because you can get coupons you need and some to trade or ride trains on here with from the inserts also. There are weeks when I only get 2/3 papers and others where I buy 10. Its cheaper to buy them at he dollar tree for me also..

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I am going to check w/my Dollar Tree to see if they sell the paper :O) I was at GE the other day and they had crossed out the $1.50 on the paper and had it marked $2.00..........do you think this is becasue of people buying them for coupons??

I thought it was illegal to mark up the paper since it already has the price on it? Idk, but in our area the paper is $1.50. I normally just buy one and then request coupons from other people.

I just buy one paper. I have found that one Sunday paper in my area is $2.00 and another which is smaller but has the same inserts is only $.75. I can almost always find enough coupons to justify the cost of one paper. I haven't been doing coupons or HCW for very long, but I've found that I can almost always either trade coupons, ride coupon trains, or even send my unused/expired coupons to the US military. I also purchase ALL YOU magazine monthly @ Walmart. I can't think of one time that I haven't gotten my money's worth out of the magazine plus I enjoy reading it so I get 2 benefits in 1!

Just thought I'd share my findings so far.

do you mind telling me what state you live in? I live in Oregon and the Sunday papers are all 2.00. I had no idea people were able to buy them at a cheaper price! I am amazed and am going to be making some phone calls!
