    Default Is taking peelies Stealing?

If you walked into a grocery store and while you shopped took some peelies would you expect to be stopped on your way out of the store and treated like a criminal?

Everyone has their own opinion on it... And I don't think anyone should be treated like a criminal over it...

I'll take up to three (my personal limit) IF they say on ANY. For instance if its for Kelloggs cereal, and it says "save $1 on ANY box"... then I don't think that it is specific to that box.

IF it says THIS... then I usually leave them be.

THat being said... I have found lately that getting the silly things off a box to be not worth the hassle. Ugh.

I wouldn't expect to be stopped, but I personally consider taking peelies off of products you are not purchasing wrong. I know there is no hard and fast rule about this.....it's just my opinion. IMHO.... If the mfr wanted just anyone to have the q, they would make it in a form of a blinkie or tearpad. If the mfr intends the q to be used by the person purchasing the product, they stick it to the product.

By taking the coupon that is placed directly on the product, you are takng away the incentive the mfr wanted to give to the purchaser of the product.

However, I wouldn't expect to be stopped by store employees or harassed. I can see a manager asking to speak with you and explaining to you their store policy that coupons placed on the product are not to be removed by anyone other than the purchaser.....I would think the store has that right to set such a policy, but I could be wrong.

Yes I can definitely see getting pulled aside or maybe stopped if you took a bunch.

I bring this up because I was harassed for taking 3 peelies that I got from a huge display where every single item had one, and I didn't feel bad about it because this particular store always has really outdated peelies on things which to me indicates they don't influence very many peoples purchasing decisions at that store.

I can see stores not being ok with it but to me it seemed pretty crazy to get confronted while checking out over 3 coupons.

Yeah...that's pretty silly. Not like you were roaming the store taking all the peelies!

I dont consider it stealing if you only take a few, but if you dig through the whole shelf and take them all then I think its wrong.

Glad to see my perspective on this isn't all that different from most here, for a minute there I was thinking maybe everyone thinks it is stealing... lol

But yeah, I mean these are put on by manufacturers and it isn't like stores pay extra for them or anything like that so I cannot imagine they could actually have a legal channel against someone who takes them...

I don't go into any store just stealing peelies, but if there are a ton of one that I would like but don't want to purchase that day I will sometimes take a few to use later... because there are people who will clear them all out sometimes and you have to look out for yourself sometimes like that.... I am rambling.

Was the item that the peelie was on YOURS? Because if there's a peelie on an item that belongs to the store, then that peelie is THEIRS! Until, of course, you remove the peelie from said item, then 9/10ths of it becomes yours. So, as long as you can get them removed before anyone stops you then it's not stealing. It's vandalism.

Nope. Why? Did this happen to you?
BTW this topic has been debated to death and I must warn you may be melded into an existing peelie thread

I do take some if I know that the item is on sale or will be in the near future or the peelie is really long dated. I've see lots of wasted (expired) peelies on items both at the stores and at bent and dents.
I've also been given some by the people who put the pelies on.
I figure I will by the product (maybe not in that store or at that time) but it will be used on the product
