Thumbs Down Adobe download virus

I know that's where my virus came from ..that's what my guru told me anyway, it could not be fixed, poof, meesed up the whole computer, I had to go buy new.

The ONLY thing I would have downloaded in adobe would have beena coupon..no idea which one, but I was talking with another coupon friend now who jsut told me she too has this same virus..reassures me it was from a coupon download of some sort.

It started out like it was pretty harmless, malwarebytes got it trapped it, deleted..ran full virus scan, nothing showed...then 2 days later, it was back. I washed rinsed & repeated that 3 times until ithad just gotten so bad, there was no hope. What it does is shuts down your other programs running & gives you security wanrming, do you want to update virus protection, blah blah, tries to get you to purchase that program...my GF's friend paid & still got wiped with this thing.

Anyway, just wanted to pass the word in case anyone else has weird things happening, take it serious if so!

I get that many times or at least I think so.... I got that shield icon on my task bar and I got pop ups that I need to update whatever anti-virus and it tried to get me to buy it and sometimes some random porn sites popped up. What happened was there were two files downloaded into your computer and just need to be removed in Safe Mode.

Cheers..

Out of curiousity, Meems, was the virus named Virtuamonde or something like that? Or Your PC Protector? I had that same problem at my work PC last night. Took me like two hours to clean it all out by hand. :T

I had one that the computer guy told me it came in from adobe (either reader or something else I didn't have). He told me no virus protectors catch this one because of how it gets in. We had to rewrite the root file? Or something like that. Glad he could help.

Since mine was 6+ yrs old, it was time to do the upgrade anyway, though the timing wasn't the best. This one was called antivirussoft. My guy pulled my HD & ran it on his software & it still wouldn't show up, it was hidden well!
