CHAT Newspaper Inserts - How do people get so many?

I was wondering if it is possible to go to stores and gas stations and ask if they will give you the leftover papers on Sunday night. Or do you all know where/who would I contact to get some free inserts? I would like to start getting some stuff that I could donate to the local women and children center. Being a domestic violence survivor myself I know how important it is to help these moms and kids out. I really is something that I hold dear to me and this is one way that I know I can help. Anyway your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance...............

Yes, it's possible. :) My best suggestion would be 7-11 or other convenience stores. The ones around me toss their papers (after ripping the thingie off to return to the paper people) at midnight. You can ask the manager to either keep them for you, pick up that night, or pick up early Monday morning. :) In the end, it's really just up to the managers... but yes. 7-11 would be my best bet.

I used to deliver the Newspapers and in my state the newspaper carrier collects all the old papers and gets credit for them so the stores will NOT give them to you they get a credit as well for the papers they are charged in advance for how many are delivered then credited back what they don't sell. I would try the recycle newspaper bins either on the curbs on garbage night or at the dump??

The store I worked at we just tore the date off the newspaper to give to the paper carrier and recycled the papers. So we could take the inserts if we wanted too.

I have a subscription and asked my delivery person if they could give me some extra inserts. He gives me five extra every Sunday. Nice right? It never hurts to ask.

Default I've got a couple of questions

I've been on this board for a few months and am loving every minute of it. But I've got a couple of questions that I've been wondering about.

1) How do you get the ad's weeks ahead of time?
2) How do some of you have 50 coupons of the same thing without buying them from eBay or a clipping service? That's what I do when I want multiples, or come on here to trade, but just wondering how some of you get so many. Do you really buy that many papers?

I get the coupons from my sister and mom, but that's only 2 in addition to the 1 paper I get. Actually I did buy an extra paper this past weekend due to some good coupons.

Thank you for allowing me to ask my questions and to be a part of this wonderful board

Default Re: I've got a couple of questions

1. Some people just have really good relationships with their stores and they get the ad early by asking nicely.

2. People get multiples in various ways. Dumpster diving in the newspaper recycle bins is one way to get a bunch for free (just be sure to check your local laws first). Another thing you could try is finding a store that has extra newspapers on Sunday evening/Monday morning and work out a deal with the manager for the inserts--most places they have to return the whole unsold newspaper, but some stores only have to return the front page of the paper or give a count of the unsold to the newspaper man and recycle the rest. Some people have worked out a deal where they count or tear the papers and take to recycling in exchange for the unsold inserts. And yes, some people DO buy that many papers. There's a lady that shops my same stores that buys at least 50 papers per week.
