Default How in the world...

... do some of you ladies have so many copies of the weekly inserts from the newspaper? We get the paper on the weekends so I get the inserts, but I don't understand how some ladies have 50 - 100 copies of the inserts? Where do you get them all?

Dumpster diving?

I suggest that you read over the Couponing 101 thread in Basics for the Newbie. Lots of good info in there.

I don't get that many, but, I do live in a complex that has paper recycling!!! So every few days I head down there and do a bit of "recycling" for myself!!!!

I have a daughter that works at a gas station/convience store. They throw the left over Sunday papers away on Monday morn. So I pull the inserts before they throw them away. If you have any gas stations close by ask them what they do with the leftovers. Offer to take them , pull the inserts and recycle the papers. Also recycling bins are a great way to find papers. My friend usually finds several still bundled papers in hers. Another option is local Dollar Tree stores sometimes sells the Sunday papers for $1 all week. It's a good way for a beginner to get started. HTH

Many people have friends who work for the newspaper and can access them that way. Then, if you live in an apt, ask everyone to save them for you. Or you can dumpster dive, or.... you can purchase them from the clipper services...or you can get creative....

When I first started couponing I was buying 3 or 4 inserts a week. It really helped quite a bit in building a good stockpile. Don't let the prospects of 100 inserts overwhelm you. It's nice for the people who can get them but I'm just letting you know that it's still very possible to do great with just a few per week. Recently, I've only been buying 2 per week even and purchasing on ebay multiples of the better coupons that I will need.

I can't bring myself to dumpster dive at this point. Will hit up the gas stations and see if I can get the unsold Sunday papers for cheap or free. Thanks for the tips!

i do a few things
1)some weeks i buy up to 10 copies of the newspaper if the coupons are that hot. i usually use some of my about to expire ECBs for this purpose

2)i have several folks who MAIL me or have me pick up all their inserts that they dont use here in town. this was thanks to using freecycle and requesting the coupons.

3)every 2 weeks i dumpster dive on recycling trash day morning. you have to check your local laws on this. some areas do not allow it . mine allows taking the coupons but not the alluminum.

My neighbor delivers the Sunday papers, I keep her three kids over night while she hits the streets.....I wake up to between 20-50 inserts...LOL....IT IS SO MUCH WORK to get the inserts sorted and pulled, haul out all the trash...omg. BUT, I do the research work, and pass the deal list and cut out q's to my neighbor and float her free stuff often. We work together to get the deals, donate and hep family members, and we take care of all our kids! I am so thankful for this set-up at this time in my life. I have friends that get the larger paper from the city that has some better q's, they save for me, so I get 2-3 copies there, pay them with free toothpaste or a coffee sometime. I will once in a blue moon buy a copy of the bigger paper if there is an excellent coupon in there. I try to exercise restraint though, because the point is to NOT spend money.

Today I stood at Pick N Save with a handful of Ken's salad dressing q's, made it free...I have like 40 bottles, and was sick of looking at the q's so I passed them out to people walking by. It was hilarious! Some people said NO! Completely free salad dressing! No tax even! I laughed so hard! I left the rest of the q's on the shelf.
