| Re: It really pays to contact companies! Most of time it does pay to give companies feedback. Even if I have a complaint about a product, I try to tell the company how much I usually enjoy or like their products and was just disappointed in the quality this time. I find it helps to have model number or UPC code handy. I've has luck e-mailing and calling companies. Like the PP said, I'm so bad about remembering to do this just when something is bad.

Refuse to go to the place again if I don't hear from them.
I only complain when valid. | I know what you mean. My mom holds a grudge for places that make her mad for YEARS. Growing up, there were several restaurants we couldn't go to because they were on my mom's (bad) list!
I compliment 99% of the time, too, and was e-mailed by the Sister Schubert's people that I made their day! They made mine with a free Q!

I totally understand about complimenting it does mean alot. For year's I would not go to a particular place as I don't like seafood, DH loves it, however steak at this place was always tough, no matter how I ordered it. Gave in last year, went, had the best steak, sent email to corporate, even told waitress to tell chef how pleased I was. Next time we went to this place a few months later we got the same waitress and she remembered us, because not many people "don't like seafood and come to this restaurant for their hubbies" she said thanks for the compliment I was impressed she remembered us because this is a high profile busy place. |

| Re: It really pays to contact companies! It really pays off for me. I take old grocery ads and email each company that matches the products listed in the ads. I just mark them off one by one. I keep a list on my notepad of the names, the dates I email them and what I receive from them. Just started doing this again and the mailbox is overloaded each day. Some say no but the majority send great stuff.

I emailed Nylabone to let them know that I really liked their dog toys for my cocker spaniel. They sent me a package Fedex today with two dog toys that were probably at least $10 a piece at the store, a bag of dog treats, and a hardback Cocker Spaniel book ($19.95 retail price) with a training DVD! I was so surprised!
Also, a couple months ago, I had a bad experience at a restaurant and I emailed them about it. The manager sent me a $35 gift certificate in the mail to come back again!
Anyway, just wanted to share this! | I sent them an email right after I read this. They said "Thanks."
It wasn't a generic email either. We have a GSP and I went into detail and we do own Nylabone products  Waste of time.
I guess it depends on who's responding to your email and what kind of mood they are in?
