Default Chicken prices??

Anyone know what the current price is for fresh boneless skinless chicken breasts? Just trying to see if it really is cheaper than the grocery store!

I'm in so-Cal and I wait until it is on sale for $1.99/lb at my local grocery store and then I stock up. Since I am still fairly new to Costco, I don't know what their prices are. Do you? Can Costco beat $1.99/lb?

In my experience Costco cannot beat "sale prices" at other places. Now if you NEED something in quantity, and you can't wait for it, Costco is definitely cheaper than buying it at a retail grocery. I buy organic milk. At Costco I can get a 3 pack of half gallons for $8.99. At my regular grocery stores, it's $3.99 a half gallon. Costco is $3 cheaper. But if I wait for the reg stores to mark it on sale, and use a coupon, the reg stores do better - and organic usually has LONG expiration dates so I can buy 4-5 and we last til the next sale. (One of the things I love about organic milk is how long it lasts - when we have a "light milk" week, I'm not throwing away spoiled food!) If we run out before a sale, then I'll buy Costco's as long as it doesn't require a special trip using too much gas. I have found the same to be true of their meat prices. It's better than grocery at full retail, but not as good as grocery on a sale.

Since you mentioned "organic." How do you feel about organic prices at Costco? Are there any real good deals there that you can't beat anywhere else? Talking about organic, are you part of Hot Coupon Worlds sister site OGD aka Organicgrocerydeals.com? If you aren't you should check them out. If you already are, then you are ahead of the game.

I never buy boneless, skinless chicken breasts or tenders for more than $1.99/lb. My Cosco is always a lot more than that, even if the chicken is on clearance because it is too close to the sell by date. I too wait for chicken to go on sale at a grocery store and stock up.

I'm guessing you guys might be talking about the fresh price. Frozen boneless skinless is $1.49/lb (5.99 for a 4-lb bag) on the best sales which come around regularly at Vons, Smiths, Albertsons & Food4Less. I buy several bags and start looking for a good sale when I'm down to just one or two in the freezer.
