Sounds yummy Queen! Thanks for posting...will have to make some to go with the puppy chow sometime this holiday.
How much does that recipe make...??
We also call them Beer Nuts...
4 Cups Brown Sugar
4 Eggs
1 Cup Shortening
2 tsp. ground cloves
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 cups finely chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
2 to 4 tbsp hot water*
2 tsp. baking soda
7 cups flour
* Dough must be dry. If you use too much water, it will be too sticky to work with
Mix all ingredients in a bowl with a mixer...just dump and mix.
Roll out dough to the size of a pencil and chop into 1/2 inch pieces.
Bake at 350 degrees for aproximately 5-6 minutes. (Cookies should be barely brown)
Store in closed jar or container.
