HI Need Cheaper Alternatives To Expensive Razors.

Looking for a cheaper alternative to Schick Intuition, Venus Breeze, and Venus ProSkin. Generic or semi-generic would be great as long as it has the built-in shave lube and is MUCH cheaper.

    Opinions or solutions anyone?

I don't know that there is a cheap alternative that still has the built in shave stuff and doesn't kill your legs, KWIM? I use the Bic Soleil ones (along with any Venus ones I get cheap), and they're pretty good. But they don't have the built in thing, just the regular moisture strip thingy.

DH and I do not use the cheapy razors either. He has a really sensitive face and shaves every other day, and he will only use Fusion razors. He doesn't ask for many specific items, so I think I can satisfy his request.;)

I use inexpensive generic hair conditioner on my legs.....The built in shave stuff never really works for me.

Sounds like you've got the same situation as at our house. My DH can't even use cologne or aftershave because his skin is so sensitive. He fell in love with the Fusion razor and can't say enough good things about it.

However, the multi-blade razors don't work on my legs. My legs don't even look like they're shaved when I'm done. As frustrating as it is, I end up using the cheap disposables.

Razor blades are ridiculously expensive for what is involved in them. I know many get the disposables free but A) I never seem to be able to put those deals together and B) it's like pulling teeth to get people to recycle around here and if I bought those it would just be something else I'd have to fish out of the trash to recycle.

We use the non-disposable types and while I don't do this I've heard that if you put the blade in alcohol it helps keep it sharp and you can use it a lot longer. You could google and see if there's any truth to it.

I've tried conditioner, shampoo, shower soap, body lotion, baby lotion, baby bath, baby oil, shave foam, shave cream, shave gel and just plain water. No matter what I use or how careful I am I get lots of nicks and tons of razor burn. I also get chilled easily so I usually have lots of goosebumps that I hit too.

I've also tried depilatories and waxes but my hair is coarse, tough and really deep rooted so those don't work either.

I've never heard that about the alcohol thing before. It may work but it probably isn't a good idea to try on razors with lube bars or moisturizing strips.

Ok, and can I just say that searching for this stuff on google opened up a whoooole other side of Amazon.com I had no idea existed! So please don't hold it against me, because I've never bought it from Amazon (haven't bought it in years actually, as I don't get razor rash), but the shave cream does work...

OK, $15.00, Wow. That's not really cheaper than the expensive razors. But thanks for the grin and giggle . It's hilarious how you have to be 18 to order.

Actually I just got out of the shower where I used new razors and new shave cream. The shaving cream was Pure Silk by Barbasol and the razors were Schick Quattro for Women. There were only three razors in a pack for $6.50, $4.50 after my coupon. I can't believe I got myself to pay that. Pure Silk was the cheapest women's shave cream but I did talk myself into buying that instead of the cheaper men's Barbasol that was only $.98.

I have a few itchy spots that the lotion hasn't helped yet but no cuts or burns that I've found yet.

It is like a $1 an ounce, but it lasts a long time, as it's a really thin product.
