Breakstone Zesty Blends Sour Cream reviews?

Has anyone tried the new Zesty Blends Sour Creams? Are they any good? I don't know, they just don't sound good to me.

I've tried it, and also their new (at least to me) cottage cheese with fruit in cups like yogurt. They do not carry these products at my neighborhood stores. I'm in a small town, and we don't get as much variety or as many new products as you would see in bigger stores.


The Zesty Sour Cream in Jalapeno - We used the Jalapeno on some baked potatoes with steaks. One of our party really, really likes sour cream on their baked potato. He did not think it hit the sweet spot for him quite, so I wouldn't suggest it as a sour cream replacement. Really, what you get seems more like a dip to me. The main problem most of our party had was one usually relies on the sour cream to cool the mouth from spicy foods, and yet this wasn't spicy enough to be your spicy condiment by quite a bit.


The Zesty Sour Cream in Roasted Garlic - I was clearing leftovers out of the fridge, and ended up using this one in a skillet with some leftover pasta and steamed vegetables. I just warmed the vegetables, then added the pasta to warm along with some shrimp. When the shrimp was almost cooked, I threw in the sour cream, some chopped Italian herbs, and some parmesan. I called it 'Summer Italian' and the family enjoyed it. I would buy this flavor again.

Just a side comment, I really liked the Breakstone cottage cheese with fruit in both the large type where the two come separated and the yogurt-type cups. I don't remember having yogurt in the house as a kid, nor do I remember seeing it in the market as one does now. Maybe because we lived in a tiny town. We ate a lot of cottage cheese with fruit and I always liked it. The Breakstone cottage cheese has a nice flavor and texture for cottage cheese. My kids had never eaten cottage cheese much and kept referring to it as 'chewy yogurt'. I guess that describes cottage cheese fairly well. They didn't encourage me to buy it again for them, but they ate is all in short order.

Thank you for your response. This is exactly what I was thinking about the jalepeno sour cream. It doesn't sound good. I guess I would think of it more as a dip, but not for baked potato. I like sour cream too. Now the roasted garlic may be good. The recipe you posted sounds good. I may have to try it. I think for baked potatoes, I'll stick to plain sour cream.

I love cottage cheese so the cottage cheese with fruit sounds like a good snack. Again, thank you for your response.
