QUESTION Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop -- Opinions please!

Any experience? My mop broke in half after 10 years of use (I loved my Libman!) Looking for a new mop.

I have a coupon for the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop so I am intrigued!

I bought one yesterday at Home Depot for $15. It was a "special buy" and I didn't have the coupon with me... I am hoping to use the coupon to buy an extra microfiber pad. Interesting note: There were at least 3 broken handles in and around the display. It looks like the plastic, curved tip broke completely off. I carefully inspected my purchase and suggest you do the same. Had I not read the positive reviews on Amazon, I may have dismissed this purchase.

I previously owed a Swiffer which I had modified to make it refillable. I was also using terry cloth covers in lieu of the disposable pads. I have to say that my intial impressions of the Reveal are very favorable!

The mop head itself is almost twice as big as the Swiffer. The microfiber pad does an excellent job of picking up the dirt. Washing instructions are simple: Machine wash. Tumble dry on low. No bleach, dryer sheets, or fabric softener. It also states that you should not use bleach as a mopping solution.

The trigger on the Reveal is located on that plastic, curved tip that I saw broken off at the Home Depot. I imagine if the mop hits the floor hard enough at the right angle it may break off and render the mop inoperable. It feels fairly solid and I wonder if the broken handles were the result of a shipping incident to the store or falling from a height. Some of the mops were displayed on an eye level shelf.

On a positive note, the trigger does not require batteries (my Swiffer needed batteries) to operate. It sprays the solution from the handle portion several inches above the floor. (The Swiffer has jets on the portion that the pad attaches, very close to the floor.) This may give my children the opportunity to squirt the dog when they mop. However, this decreases the chances of a clog. (The Swiffer has a tube from the resevoir to the pad to deliver the solution. This tube can become clogged with some solutions like Murphy's Oil Soap when not in use for long periods.) I also like the size of the solution resevior on the Reveal and the wider mouth for refilling.

Overall, I am pleased with the purchase I made a little over 12 hours ago :)

I bought one few weeks ago, $20 after the coupon and worth it. Love mine, its so light weight and love the wide pad on it. Since it'll only be 10 bucks after the Q, thinking of getting one for mom as a Xmas gift. I didn't notice the pads only there but did find them at Target for 3.99, so free after the Q, got a couple of extra ones.
