QUESTION Ragu Pasta Sauce not as thick as before?

I haven't bought pasta sauce for a while. My stockpile was low so I bought some jars of Ragu Old-World-Style Traditional Pasta Sauce from CVS a couple weeks ago. I think the pasta sauce from these jars is runnier, not as thick as before. Have they changed the recipe? Am I imaging things? or am I spoiled by the more expensive Bertolli pasta sauce I got at a sale?

now to get the 'normal stuff' that's still thick, you have to buy the 'thick and chunky', yes, it changed, I don't like the change. Stopped using it for a long time after that, only just started again recently, since my husband wouldn't eat anything with 'chunks'. Now I don't have to worry about 'chunks' in my sauces lol.

yes, it's changed and I don't like it... I know have to buy a can of tomato paste and add to sauce... so it's not all watery

Me too, Bertolli is IT if I can get it cheap. Although, if Bertolli isn't on sale and I have no coupons, I buy the canned Del Monte sauces for a $1 instead, I swear they are better than Ragu - of course I doctor them up some to our preference but still cheaper!

Wow, I thought I was imagining things. I only use Ragu and couldn't figure out why my lasagna seemed runny. Now I don't feel so crazy LOL.

Since I moved I dont get my dads homemade sauce all the time so I bought some ragu and its soooo runny I hate it I have to use such much more to cover my pasta and trying to make chicken parm w/ragu is a no-go..although ragu is a good sauce for my dd whos learning to eat by herself.

I really dont care for Ragu anymore, waay to runny but I tried a jar of the Prego the other day and it was almost the same. It seems like its all water and then a little tomato sauce.

Glad I found this forum, hopefully enough complaints will make them do some work and change back. I understand the less sodium more veggies deal, but hey, why mess with a good thing? Were they bored, what were they thinking? My family is picky enough, who would think changing Ragu would cause such an uproar? Yes,it's not a huge event in life, but try serving meals you have served for years only to have to throw over 50% of it in the garbage just because someone at the company decided to get health conscious and mess up a good thing. Other companies have tried to improve in the past, only to change back (a famous pop company) maybe if they get enough feedback they will do the same. Just had to vent on this topic.

I think you guys are right. I noticed this with the last jar I opened. It was almost like water. The jar did say "NEW Great Tasting" and this makes me think they may have changed it. I'm very disappointed. Has anyone written Ragu to find out? My favorite, Chunky Tomato, Garlic, and Onion did not have the same consistency as usual.
