Default Anyone try those Topsy Turvy planters we see at Walgreens & CVS?

I burned a bunch of ECB's buying three of them. Two weeks ago, I planted tomatoes, bell peppers, and eggplant. The plants have about doubled in size so far. I have two blooms on the tomatoes, but nothing yet on the others. So far I like them, but was wondering if anyone has any more long-term results. With three dogs running around my yard constantly stomping lizards, the only way I can hope to grow anything is to hang it in the air. LOL

I bought mine about a month ago now and planted 2 tomato plants in each. I guess they are as far along as yours are, lol.

So far, so good though.

I really wanted DH to make me a few out of the big plastic buckets but that would have taken until next summer.

Yeh. I had heard of making them from buckets. But my house looks redneck enough as it is LOL. The only sunny area to hang them here is in the front of the house.

Both my mom and my aunt have the Topsy Turvy and they both got huge tomatoes from them. However, both of them said they did not taste good. I dont know why as I dont like tomatoes, but I hope yours turn out better!

I don't have one, but our neighbors have one hanging on their front porch. We planted our tomatoes in the ground at the same time they got their Topsy Turvy up and our plants are 5ft tall with an abundance of tomatoes all over them and theirs is like a foot long and no flowers or fruit. I keep waiting to see some fruit on theirs but nope...

I just bought one in the last week and bought a Roma tomato plant to try with it. Figured the Romas wouldn't weigh the plant down and cause breakage plus they are good in salads, cut lengthwise for sandwiches, or just eaten plain. The plant already had a couple of flowers on it so I guess we'll see how that turns out soon.

My tomatoe plant is growing faster than the eggplant and peppers. I too thought about the weight of the tomatoes breaking the plant. I was thinking about doing cherry tomatoes. Maybe I will do that one the next time.

I wanted to but my SIL said she spent near $70 just buying the extra stuff you need for it. Is this really true ?

Moss, soil, plant food, etc ?
