It took about 1 1/2 bags of soil.... for each one. I got the Miracle grow soil since I was using ecb's and/or reward bucks. Those cost about $5 per bag. Then I just bought some Miracle Grow plant food at CVS which is on sale for about $2.59 this week. Should last a long time. I got the starter plants at KMart with my reward bucks for about $3.00 each. So no...I don't see where your sil got the $70 figure. More like about $21 per planter...plus plant food for future feedings. Still pricey, but hey....I needed to burn the ecb's so I splurged.

Oh.. For the past two days, when I went to water the plants, a little bird comes flying out (very indignant about it too! LOL) I think this bird thought she had found a swelll home!
