Thanksgiving Dairy Free/vegan green bean casserole

I've looked and found some recipes on google. BUT I wanted to see first if anyone has actually tried any and liked them!?

I need a dairy free green bean casserole recipe. I still don't really know how to cook when a recipe calls for cream or cream of mushroom, chicken soup since we can't use any of that.

Anyone cooked a yummy vegan/dairy free green bean casserole?! It's a MUST for Turkey day but this will be our first dairy free Thanksgiving

Are you actually vegan or dairy allergic? That will make a difference...

My toddler is dairy allergic, so we don't keep any dairy (but coffee creamer) in the house.

I have to do this from memory:
Italian style green beans (2 cans)
    drain most of the juice
    garlic powder
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    bacon slices
butter (but you can use margarine)
(we put bacon in, but you can leave it out.)
Bake in the oven until done

    need help lactose free recipes

You could try making this recipe and using it in place of the canned stuff, and seeing if it works. Hate to make you a guinea pig, though...

That might work... I can try that in the next 2 weeks and see how it tastes before Thanksgiving!

You could also try this one...

The Best Vegan Green Bean Casserole | Fatfree Vegan Kitchen

although it appears to be the same amount of work.

If it were me, I'd just make a big batch of the cream of mushroom soup, and if it works I'd freeze "can sized" portions for future casseroles.

That is the recipe I found online that I thought about using. I think I'll try what you said first though, b/c I always want to make stuff that calls for cream of mushroom.

Ok.. so what is the difference of a dutch oven ?? It looks like a normal pot w/a lid!

I make my own cream of mushroom soup with Rice Milk, flour, oil or coconut oil, salt & pepper. I follow the directions for a white sauce, add extra milk, and throw in some sliced mushrooms. Sometimes I use onions in the soup too. I don't know what the ingredients are in French's Fried Onions, but putting them inside makes up for it (flavor wise).
