Cheese Bread

1 ½ pound loaf

2/3 cup milk
1 ¼ cups shredded cheddar cheese, or Monterey jack cheese with jalapeno peppers
¼ cup water
1 egg
3 cups bread flour
2 tbsp sugar
¾ tsp salt
1 tsp active dry yeast or bread machine yeast (I added 1/8 tsp more yeast)

Add ingredients according to bread machine's directions, adding the cheese with the milk. Select the basic white cycle, and the light color setting.

I used a little more than 4oz of store brand monterey jack w/jalapeno peppers. It was on sale at Albertsons for $.88 so the cost of the bread was approximately $.90. It is not too spicy but you can taste the jalapenos, just a little. Really nice for sandwiches.

The light color setting suggestion was really a good idea in the directions. The bread was really dark on the sides and probably would have been burnt on a darker setting.
