One working mom's random musings and opinions on consumerism. It may start out boring, but it will get better I promise. Stay tuned.
Too Many Coupons
Posted 05-27-2008 at 04:15:05 PM by ~~Who,Me?~~
I never thought I would say this, but I think I have too many coupons. Let me tell you about my sources. First, I subscribe to my Sunday paper--the Philadelphia Inquirer. I get my inserts on Friday or Saturday, which is great.
Then on Monday, I go to my little local newsstand, and they give me the leftover inserts. I get inserts from the Wilmington News Journal and The Daily Local. The variety is nice.
On Tuesday or Wednesday, my mail package arrives from my dad. He mails me the inserts from the Allentown Morning Call. But recently even my dad has taken it to the next level. He asks HIS neighbors for their inserts. And he is very pleased with himself when he gets an accidental extra insert in his Sunday paper.
When all is said and done, I have anywhere from 10-20 inserts each week. Of course that's not including any printables that I print or tearpads that I pick up. I belong to a coupon train, so that takes a lot of them. And I've gotten much smarter in the past six months about organizing them.
But it's still too many coupons.........sometimes.

| | My hubby is a driver in another state and he asks gas stations during his deliveries for their leftover unsold coupon inserts late Sunday nights. (He doesnt take the papers, that way they still get a credit.) Sometimes they say "No, we are not allowed, but I will ask" (then either we are told "yes" or "no") and then there are gas stations that already set the extra inserts aside for him every Sunday, as long as there is any extras. They ALL have checked with whomever to make sure it is okay. (This way DH and I know its permitted.) So, I end up with anywhere from 10-20+ inserts weekly for FREE! :) |

| | I've heard that from my newsstand--as long as they return the paper, they get credit. |
