I am Margot, 38, married to my husband, Kevin, for almost 17 years and mom to 3 kids: Sarah, 16, Evan, 10 and wild and crazy Eli, 2.
We live in west central Indiana and recently bought a "fixer-upper" house that is both a time suck and money pit!
My husband is between jobs ATM so couponing and rebating have become necessities. I work part time at our local newspaper and am looking to go back to school in the spring to finish my bachelor's degree. (18 years after I left.)
This summer I really got into gardening, especially heirloom veggies! I am currently in the process of canning and preserving our harvest of tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchini.
I have been keeping my grocery budget under $300 a month, but it's been really easy with lots of our own produce. As it gets colder, it will be more difficult to keep our budget that low, but I am going to be freezing a lot of our harvest and am looking at cold frames to extend our growing season.
I am mainly going to use this blog as my savings journal and maybe add some goals as I go along.
