I have been inspired by Kimandkathess and am joining the savingsfest! I am going to attempt to plunk away $500 in the month of August. This will be put toward an emergency fund.

This will be tough since my DH has been out of work for 6 weeks and we have not rec'd a TDI check yet, but I am going to try my best to generate $500 and I will bring you along for the ride!! :hamster2:

I am starting with an initial $20 put aside from my paycheck on August 1.

8/4/08- I tutor on Mondays and most of this has been going to groceries and spending money, but I have managed to wrangle $30 for the fund... fund total: $50.00

can't seem to find cash...

This is SO much harder than last time when I really could focus on raisng the money. I added another $20 from my hubby's paycheck (I only get paid every two weeks), so the grand total so far is $55.00. I have several prospects on Craigslist items that will probably raise a few bucks, but nothing major is happening. My tutoring was cancelled this week and I have been busy with work and family. The funny thing is, it's the goal, more than the money that is bothering me. I know that logically, I could probably find someone to split the meat and therefore split the cost also... but where's the challenge in that? I was able to do it a few months ago and I should just be happy with that, shouldn't I? Is it a strange, sick thing that I want to "scavenge" as much money as I can toward this so that it doesn't have to come out of the "real" money budgeted (loose term!) for other things?

Some day the magic money fairy will come visit... I just know it!!
