Shopping totals and deals from Wednesday through Sunday:
Food Lion - 2/18/09
OOP Total: $30.40
MVP and Coupons savings: $33.50
Saved more than I spent!
Picked up these deals (and others): Cottonelle Double 6 roll BOGO, Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent BOGO, St. Ives Body Wash on sale for $2.49 minus $2 off coupon = $.49!
Rite Aid 2/20/09:
Picked up the three 12 packs of Pepsi for $8.98 with in ad coupon. My husband drinks only Pepsi and goes through it fast.
Total OOP: $9.72
Coupon savings: $2
Walgreens 2/20/09:
Got three cans of Campbell's soup for $.69 each with in-ad coupon, plus I had a $.40 off three coupon, so $.56 each. Also got the free Gillette shampoo for buying the Fusion cartridges (my husband loves Gillette shampoo) and some Aveeno lotion on sale for $2.39 minus a $2 coupon = $.39. I did find the Yes to Carrots items, but none were marked as being on sale on the shelves and I realized after I left that the item I bought rang up at what looks like the regular price that was on the shelf. So I'm probably just going to return it rather than fight with them over whether or not it was supposed to be on sale last week. It's not worth the hassle to me and I have plenty of other lip stuff already.
Total OOP: $24.79
Savings: $12.92
To be returned: $7.99
Adjusted OOP: $16.80
Walgreens 2/21/09:
Saturday I went back to Walgreens to pick up my 20 free prints from the Friday special. My husband is sick and needed some Theraflu, so picked that up and another bottle of Tylenol. Had coupons for both.
OOP: $9.25
RR: $1
ESR: $3
Adjusted OOP: $5.25
Food Lion 2/22/09:
Sunday I had to do our two week real grocery shopping, in which I pick up perishables for the next two weeks and other items we're in desperate need of.
OOP: $144.86
MVP sales and coupon savings: $41.28
It was still a lot (part of that is because my husband went with me. I can usually spend less when he doesn't tag along) but we're stocked up on toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, cereal, salad dressing, dog food, and Handi-Vac bags for a while, so the next two week grocery bill should be lower since I won't have to buy any of those (unless there's a really great sale that I can't pass up).
I also grabbed a Health and Beauty booklet that was on a table by the door on my way out, which includes 15 manufacturer's coupons for shampoo, deodorant, body wash, vitamins, etc. And I got my ticket for the $20 gift card "Free Ham" promotion and my fourth bag of Fresh Express lettuce for February so that I can get a free bag in March. (I eat salad almost every day with my lunch.)
Also, my mother-in-law gave me two free bottles of Juicy Juice apple juice on Saturday when we went to eat dinner with them. She said she had a ton that she had gotten from the mother of the little girl that she baby-sits, so many that it would take them forever to drink, so she's been trying to give some away and asked if I wanted any. I took two bottles home with me. I usually drink only water or juice (cranberry, apple, or orange-pineapple) so the bottles are very appreciated.
OOP total: Free!
Spent from Wednesday to Sunday: $207.03
Saved: $93.70
I hope to learn how to reverse those numbers, bring my spending down and my savings up. But still, it's much more savings than I've ever done before finding HCW!
