Saving Money so I can afford gas in my car!

Lately, our food/misc budget has been out of control! I checked in our money software and we've been averaging $400-550 a month in groceries for a family of 4. And that doesn't include diapers! Yikes! I used to be pretty good about making a grocery list and planning out meals, but since the youngest was born in Aug, I've really slacked off. I"m back on the coupon train and want to get more aggresive with deals. In the past I would try to "double up" on sales and coupons, but didn't really stock up on items. Since finding this website, I really want to work on building a stockpile. I don't have a lot of storage space so my stockpile will be pretty modest, but I'm going to try!

Start at the DG forum, and look to see what is in the 'cheap/everyday' items are there. I know, that you can get band-aids, Iam's cat food (small bag), GUM toothbrushes, and other stuff FREE after coupon, w/ their Regular Prices! After you write down those items, then check out the weekly thread, then the Monthly Rebate thread. These let you know, which deals to do.
Then you repeat that process each week.
First stop; call your DG, and find out if they accept internet printed coupons (IPs), if they allow you to combine a manufacturer's Q w/ a DG Q, etc. I already know the answers to this, but you need to familiarize yourself w/ their rules, and this is the best way. Plus, it will give you practice, so the other stores will seem like a 'piece of cake'.Posted 06-04-2008 at 01:47:05 PM by gettinrevvin2007
