The Before Picture

I found this picture of the front of barn in my pictures.

This is stage 1 of the project, taken last summer when we were cleaning out all the junk inside the barn.
When the concrete is all dug up and outta there, I'll take a new pic for the during stage and then once we have the house up, then I'll proudly post an after pic!!!

| | ROFL!! They say that the barn was built in the late 1700's and a couple of the sections were added in the early-mid 1900's. It was in really rough shape. We were lucky enough to find a company that takes down old barns and rebuilds them and they took down the main 30 foot by 40 foot part. 3 guys did it in 4 1/2 days in the warm April sun. But for the hotness factor, I would have been happy if it had taken them 4 1/2 weeks to get it done. Even the part that they took though was in rougher shape than even the head guy had originally thought. He said that when it gets rebuilt it'll be more like a 20x30 or so, just to compensate for the unusable pieces. We'll definitely get more use of a brand new house that's going up in its place than the barn full of chipmunks and squirrels etc, and we can get ourselves out of this late 1800's farmhouse that would need to be jacked up to have a full foundation poured and then pretty much gutted to the studs and completely redone to bring it up to current building codes. We live in the back section of the house and it was completely redone about 15 years ago, but it's so limited in space (698 sq feet for the 4 of us) that we need to make a big change!! |
