how do you get the free stuff

I do surveys, but not often because they are time consuming. As far a I know, unless you really want to purchase a product, you should never feel forced to purchase a product(s) in order to get the item for "free" in the first place. I personally stay away from these types of surveys because I have no intentions of purchasing anything and if there is any indication of tier requirements (silver, bronze, gold) then I usually try to just "skip" through this stuff to get to the end withought buying anything. Most times though, I find even that time consuming and I close out of the survey and find another one that does not require me to purchase anything. HTH.

Hopefully someone else here can give you a better answer than this, but I have a feeling they do the same thing that I do. Don't fret, surveys sites can be rewarding, you just need to find the ones that work right for you. Not you for them.

I think the ones that you are talking about are bogus!! Any of those are just getting you to sign up for a bunch of cr@p. Check out bzzzagent, houseparty.com and some cool ways to get free stuff. Avoid the ones you are talking about, never worth it!!

MyPoints is another one where over time you build up points by reading emails they send (rather clicking on the link in the emails) and doing the occasional survey, etc. It takes time but the more points you have the better the gifts you can get-most of them are gift cards but they have a ton of different choices. Again, it takes a while, but free is free even if it is over time.
