"I will help thee, saith the LORD." Isaiah 41:14 (http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Isa&c=41#14)

"I will help thee, saith the LORD." Isaiah 41:14

This morning let us hear the Lord Jesus speak to each one of us: I will help thee. It is but a small thing for Me, thy God, to help thee. Consider what I have done already. What! not help thee? Why, I bought thee with My blood. What! not help thee? I have died for thee; and if I have done the greater, will I not do the less? Help thee! It is the least thing I will ever do for thee; I have done more, and will do more. Before the world began I chose thee. I made the covenant for thee. I laid aside My glory and became a man for thee; I gave up My life for thee; and if I did all this, I will surely help thee now. In helping thee, I am giving thee what I have bought for thee already. If thou hadst need of a thousand times as much help, I would give it thee; thou requirest little compared with what I am ready to give. Tis much for thee to need, but it is nothing for me to bestow. Help thee? Fear not! If there were an ant at the door of thy granary asking for help, it would not ruin thee to give him a handful of thy wheat; and thou art nothing but a tiny insect at the door of My all sufficiency. I will help thee.

O my soul, is not this enough? Dost thou need more strength than the omnipotence of the United Trinity? Dost thou want more wisdom than exists in the Father, more love than displays itself in the Son, or more power than is manifest in the influences of the Spirit? Bring hither thine empty pitcher! Surely this well will fill it. Haste, gather up thy wants, and bring them here thine emptiness, thy woes, thy needs. Behold, this river of God is full for thy supply; what canst thou desire beside? Go forth, my soul, in this thy might. The Eternal God is thine helper!
Fear not, I am with thee, oh, be not dismay.
I, I am thy God, and will still give thee aid.

IT's been a hot minute since I have been on here, but I need to get back into the swing of things. Oh, how time has flown by! My son is in kindergarten, I have been in school, and I have been at my job for over a year. Over all, things are well.
I don't have to get AS MANY coupons as I used to when I was with my son's father, so I have decided that 6 newspapers each week will give me enough coupons. I have to look up so much stuff because I forgot most of the abbreviations as well as the website to go to which posts which inserts are when. All that information was on my old lappie which died on me a year ago.
Wish me luck!

I have tried to keep up with spending like coupons used, money for coupons and rebates and postage used. Just too many totals for in and out expenses,,,,nope - not this year. Just gonna keep writing in here what I cashed/deposited. Still gonna buy myself a nice convertible car this summer (kids are grown and retirement should be some fun b4 the grand kids get here) - might use some of it for the car, buy my spouse something or take a big trip.

Got to save the money before I can do anything.

I don't need to add to the stockpile, so I shouldn't need it for groceries this year. My freezers are full - I have a processed deer coming - so I don't need to stockpile much of anything except for meat/produce and vitamins.

So I cashed some checks after 2pm so technically this is 2012 money.

Greg Laurie - The Greatest Gift of All

*The Greatest Gift of All*

The Greatest Gift of All

I heard that someone actually tried to calculate how much it would cost to give the gifts named in the classic Christmas song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas." The grand total came to about $15,000.

Some items were affordable, like a partridge in a pear tree for $34.99. Six turtledoves will run you somewhere around $50. Six geese-a-laying will cost around $150.

But the price soars when you add 11 pipers piping. That is $1,000 right there. Then there are the 12 drummers drumming. With current union scale for musicians, they will run you another $1,000.

The price really soars when you get 12 lords-a-leaping. We are talking $3,000 for them. Granted, I don't know where you would find them, but they are very expensive.

But the real message of Christmas is not the gifts we give each other. Rather, it is a reminder of the gift that God has given to each of us. It is the only gift that truly keeps on giving, so I want to point out four things about it.

First, it is surprising. When Christmas rolls around, you often try to figure out if certain people have bought that gift you really wanted. Maybe you already know what they bought, because they didn't hide it very well. Or maybe you uncovered it by accident—or maybe not. But when the day comes and you open the present, you have to pretend you're surprised. Yet all along, you knew what it was. God's gift to us, however, was a complete surprise. It was not expected and, as you examine it more carefully, you realize how great a gift it actually was.

Second, God's gift came to us in the humblest of wrappings. What would you think if you saw a gift under your Christmas tree that was wrapped in newspaper and tied up with string? At first, you would probably assume that a guy wrapped it.

But think about God's gift to us. Jesus was not born in a palace of gold; He was born in a stable. He was clothed in rags. He was laid in a feeding trough. Yet these things do not, in any way, diminish the story of Christ's birth. If anything, they help us realize the great sacrifice God made for us. God's gift to humanity, the ultimate gift of eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ, came in the simplest and humblest of wrappings.

Third, we don't deserve this gift. At Christmas, we give gifts to the people we care about, the ones who have been kind to us over the past year, or the ones who have given us a gift first. We don't give gifts to the person who has been slandering our name, or to the angry neighbor who never has a kind word to say. Yet God gave us His gift when we were His enemies. He didn't give this gift to us because we deserved it. In fact, it was just the opposite. The Bible tells us, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8 NKJV).

Fourth, the gift tells us something about the giver. When you want to give someone a gift, you start thinking about it ahead of time. Hopefully, you try to find what that person wants or needs. When God decided to give us the gift of eternal life, it wasn't something that He just thought of on the fly. Long before there was a town called Bethlehem, a garden called Eden, or a planet called Earth, a decision was made in eternity that God would send forth His Son, born of a woman, to redeem those who are under the law.

The Bible says that He was slain from the foundation of the world (see Revelation 13:8). Make no mistake about it: this gift that God has given to us was the most sacrificial thing He possibly could have offered.

So Christmas isn't about those gifts that you have under your tree right now. All of those things will be gone one day. All that will be left after this life is the human soul, and that will live forever. We will put so much stock in what we have, but this is all going to pass away.

Life is about what happens beyond the grave. Life is about knowing the God who made you and who gave you the greatest gift you will ever receive.

Like most nights after dinner, I stopped by the CVS near me because I'm in my normal hunt for clearance items. As soon as I walked in, I saw a lady with tons of Tide in her cart checking out at the self check out(SCO). I thought to myself, "Is there a good deal on Tide that I missed? Hmmm, I can't recall any"

So I go merrily scan away a few things here and there and when I was finally ready to pay, this lady is still at the SCO. So I watched while she was scanning her coupons. She had three Tides and must have put in 10 Tide coupons! No wonder she bought so many! Now I thought the registers are programmed to take one coupon per item, I guess I am wrong. I debated whether or not to bring it to the manager's attention. I just feel sad because pretty soon, all these coupons will go away if people like her will continue to abuse the system.

What would you have done?

Yesterday morning, once I was finished with my pt, I decided to walk over to a Rite Aid that's near by the pt office. I had with me an envelope with some coupons that expire soon, so I wanted to see if I could score any good deals. As I was walking up and down the store, I happened upon the aisles with the seasonal decorations. The fall decor was welcoming with its' warm colors and promise of cooler weather to come, the Halloween decorations were whimsical and fun to look at, and the Christmas decorations were, . . . . . wait, did I say Christmas decorations? Here I was, standing in the middle of the aisle, perspiring because of the humid weather, which we've been experiencing for weeks, still dressed in summer attire, flip-flops and all, and I'm staring at Christmas stuff! Don't get me wrong, I love, love, love the Christmas holidays, but because of the warm weather, I'm just not feeling it! The leaves haven't even started changing colors yet! I will admit, the holidays are a time I always look forward to, so the decor was a mood-booster! And as I'm typing this, I'm thinking I have to up my search for Black Friday deals! Hmm, I better start working on my other lists. Hey, wait a minute! The holidays are right around the corner! Gotta go! Later, gators!

I recently celebrated one year of retirement, and I have to say, I am enjoying life! I will admit, it took some time and adjustments, especially...

I recently celebrated one year of retirement, and I have to say, I am enjoying life! I will admit, it took some time and adjustments, especially with receiving money once a month. For so many years I was paid a salary every two weeks. As a retiree, I receive a monthly annuity. About six years ago, when I became serious about this, I took a retirement course. Some of the financial planners had some really great advice, which I took to heart. So glad I did! One bit of advice was to try to pay off or bring down, as much as possible, the principles and/or balances on any mortgages or loans. I discussed this with a friend of mine, who is an accountant. He had taken a similar course, so we put the numbers on paper, the pros and cons, and decided, based on our personal situations, if this was viable. It was for both of us, for different reasons. I went into action, and worked on paying off my mortgage. I don't have cc debt and quite frankly I am very frugal, ok, cheap, (there, I said it!), so all the other advice were a no brainer for me. I would recommend a course like this to anyone contemplating retirement within the next 3 to 5 years.

Now with the issue of the money, although I "practiced" with being paid once a month, when reality came, I felt strange. I enjoyed seeing that direct deposit every 2 weeks. This once a month thing really hit home that I was retired! I have adjusted to it, and really like the budget I prepared based on this annuity. So far, it is working well. I find I budget myself better, and as a result am saving a little more. Always a plus in my book! Oh, did I mention that I have become a full-time mad couponer? Yep, that's me, the lady standing outside the store, before it opens, with coupon binder in tow, and clutching the shopping cart, ready to make the dash inside! I have taken couponing to new heights! But that's a blog for another day!

So I'm practically a prisoner in my own home, due to tendonitis and I am going bonkers! X-rays showed calcification on my right Achilles heel and have been ordered to stay off my foot. Great! All the deals I had lined up at 3 drugstores and 2 grocery stores went out the door! First thing I did when I got home from the hospital was to check on the expiration dates on the ECB, UP, RR, catalinas and q's. I have time. If any were to expire soon that would have really upset me! This incident reminded me of when I had knee surgery. A period in my life I don't readily wish to remember. Looks like I'll be relying on my wonderful stockpile, which, in retrospect, might not be such a bad thing. It'll clear up space, I'll do some rearranging, and start a new inventory. That sounds ok to me. On the plus side, I'm getting rest. My son does some light housekeeping and is a wonderful cook! I'll be seeing the podiatrist in a few days to get the final scoop. I'm just going to miss the thrill of the hunt for awhile. Well, it's not the first time. I'll get over it! :sad3:
