Some end of year shopping

Well that time of the year is here and that means using up some of the hot coupons that are going to expire at the end of the year. I made an impromptu run to Albertsons this afternoon with my husband to use up some wine-tags that needed to get used and got some goodies with those. While not the best savings in the world I was pretty happy with it. I budgeted $200 for my end of the year shopping and only spent $85 so far.
Here is what I got:
Of course I did not say that...but come on?
LOL
So she scanned away, and in the end my total was $85
I still have some other coupons I want to get used. Some free Alpo coupons that I will take to Smiths maybe tomorrow (I earn pet points by buying dog food there) and a few other hot ties. Plan on getting some cream cheese this week there too if my coupons have not expired yet. I *think* they expire 12/31 though. Will make a cheesecake for New Years and then freeze the rest. While frozen cream cheese is not the greatest thawed it works just fine for baked goods, frosting and in mashed potatoes.
Tomorrow I am hoping to make it to Walgreens to see if there is anything on Christmas clearance that I just MUST have. Probably not since I don't need alot of that stuff, but you never know what you will find. It will all depend on how things go for the day. Our Husky, Chicky, is having surgery tomorrow and while they expect her to be just fine she is old and has health problems so there is a risk involved.
Hope everyone is out there getting some good deals too.
Here is what I got:
- 26 boxes of Albertsons brand stuffing
- 3 Bags of frozen shrimp
- 2 cans of Solid white albacore tuna.
- 2 Hormel pork loins
- 2 lbs of hamburger
- 1 package of swiss cheese
- 1 package of Honey Ham
- 5 Christmas gift bags
- 2 loafs of French bread
- 1 gallon of organic milk
- 2 12 packs of diet cherry Pepsi (don't tell my husbands boss...cause he works for Coke)
- 1 20 oz. bottle of Mt Dew (for my DD who was babysitting)
- 1 bag of Clementine oranges (I am addicted!)
Of course I did not say that...but come on?

| | Great trip! At WAGS today I found: the large Hershey's kiss (no Christmas marking on it) for $1 so I bought 4 for Valentine's Day, 2 Hallmark ornaments that are normally $15 for $3.45... I buy one for each of my 3 kids every year for Christmas, a set of lights, 2 strings of prelit garlands (mine didn't work this year... but I've had them for 10 yrs. so I can't complain!), black socks for .50 which I desperately needed, a hairbrush for $1. I'm planning to go back later as I just got my an email saying my WAGS GC was reloaded...wahoo! One of the WAGS had Starbucks chocolates marked to $1.40 and I have $1/1 coupons for those. There were also several shampoos on clearance... Fructis, Sunsilk... ones we have qs for. Goodluck! You never know what you'll find at 75% off and you can't beat a deal like that! |
