Goal for the day - Clean and Organize my upstairs bathroom

Posted 09-02-2007 at 09:34:58 AM by queenofthehivemomof5

The problem is that our upstairs bathroom is heavily used. It is our only bathroom with a tub and shower so everyone bathes in there, it is also our laundry room. It is nice having a washer and dryer upstairs where everyone gets dressed and I don't have to lug laundry up and down stairs, but as anyone who does laundry knows, laundry creates clutter because a.) laundry is a never ending process, it's just never done! b.) there is always pocket fluff and dryer lint everywhere it seems.

Then another reason why it is a big mess right now is because I have been washing old baby clothes that we had stored in the garage, but the bags broke (reminder..don't store clothing in garbage bags) and the clothes needed to be rewashed. So now I have boxes of baby clothes sitting on the toilet up there that need to be sorted and stored (properly this time in totes).

And yet another thing, and you can see why I am dreading this project today, is that I have new cupboards in my garage that I want to move all my HBA stockpile to so that our linen closet can be used once again for...linens (gasp!)

So that is my goal for today...to get it ALL cleaned up. Can I do it? Will you cheer me on?

As a reward for my efforts my friend Sara sent me rubber ducky decorating stuff, that I am looking forward to unpacking and putting up. And maybe next weekend I will go and get new towels too.

So wish me luck and if I get it done, maybe I will post a picture to prove that I actually got it done.

I know you can do it!
If any of your kids are like my 4 year old, then they change clothes 300 times a day and sometimes wear 3 shirts at once. I've put mine to doing his own clothes LOL

OK well I have made progress...but not done yet. I had to wait for my children to take a nap to get done. I put them up for nap, but they had plans that they would fart around up there and distroy thier room instead. So after an hour or them horsing around I went in there and laid down the law. GO TO SLEEP! LOL

So once I knew there were sleeping I got busy. I started by trashing the bathmat in the tub, because dispite cleaning it frequently its just a mold trap, and gets nasty. So I will instead go shopping for some of those stick on decal to prevent slipping. Maybe some rubber ducky ones if I can find them.

Then I went through everything and got rid of the million and one empty or half empty bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair spray, gel, lotion, bubble bath, detangler, etc. Consolidated the half empty bottles into just one container. I don't care if there is Suave mixed with Pantene. LOL Then gathered any other trash in there and wiped down the counter, sink, mirror and tub (actually I gave the tub and shower a good scrubbing with some soft scrub cause it was getting pretty grubby in there since we have hard water and I have a DH that gets pretty grimy at work.

Next I went through our shower caddies and purged, cleaned, and consolidated that stuff and moved them under the sink.

So that is where I am so far, the buisness end of the bathroom is clean, now I need to move over to the laundry, linen closet area. DH just ran to the store to get us some DiGiorno pizzas (with coupons traded for) and the oven is heating. We will have dinner, then DH is going to help me move out the boxes of baby clothes and HBA stockpile and I will go from there.....

    how much per hour?

    Can I rent you?

    How much per hour?

Do you take ECB as payment?

Good job! sounds like you already accomplished so much. get some rest and tackle more when you can.

    midnight tipster:

....not sure if you all camp (we really don't but my girlfriend gave me some free advice anyway), she uses her dryer lint to start a camp fire.

I charge $100 per hour plus you must pay my flight fair. I can not use ECB's since I have no CVS, but if you take me shopping while I am there I may consider it.

We have not gone camping in years, as I dread taking 3 children under 4 out into the wilderness and try keeping them from falling in the lake or off a cliff. With all the dryer lint we have I could not only start a campfire, but a forrest fire. We do 20 loads of laundry a week, give or take, and there just seems to be fluff all over in there.

Hey we do have a fire pit in the back yard, maybe I will start saving the dryer lint for that. Other uses I have heard of is putting it outside for the birds to line thier nests (we have done this, birds in our area prefer to sit on my huskys back and pluck her undercoat out...she tollerates it) or I think I even heard of someone doing some sort of paper mache type craft with it.

Seriously, I just toss it in the trash. Im crafty but not that crafty and the last thing I need is a container of dryer lint hanging around my house.
