UGH! When will it end?!

I am so sick of people saying that everyone who is having money problems right now has spent beyond their means and don't know how to budget or should just quit being lazy and go get a job. I am SICK of it. I have no where else to post this to let it out.
My DH lost his 3rd job this year. He didn't get fired, he didn't quit, the companies shut down and went out of business. This last job that shut down on Monday went out of business 6 weeks after they hired him. Out of nowhere they just decided to pull the plug. They left 50 guys without a job. On top of that they were promised to have all their money paid to them on Friday if they showed up to get the checks. Most guys showed up only to find that they owner had gone on vacation and didn't leave their checks. They were told that they are in the mail.
On top of that, a fight broke out between a couple of the guys and the boss and DH got a black eye trying to break it up. That is not going to look well for job interviews.
I was ok with the whole losing his job thing since it is the 3rd time this year. We know how to work around it. What we don't know how to deal with is being without the job and not getting paid. He is missing $1000 that they owe him. That is enough to last us a month. Yeah, we can sue for it, but that doesn't help pay the bills this month.
I try my hardest to stay positive. I maintain a positive attitude around DH otherwise he will get more upset and worried than me. It always works out for us even when I don't know how it will, but it will. I am just so worried that it won't work out and I don't know what we are going to do.
I had to listen to my family talk about how this whole economy mess is just media hype, when here we are suffering like millions of others. We did not over spend. We are not paying off thousands of dollars in debt. It is real and it is scary.

| | I can totally understand where you are coming from. The economy is horrible right now and getting a decent job around here is next to impossible. DD has been trying to get a job since she graduated H.S. this year and was able to land a seasonal job for a month and that was about it. For what its worth, I feel for you and I pray that your husband gets the money that is owed to him from his previous job as well gets another job soon. *hugs* |

| | I hope things will get better! My sister's baby daddy had a similar situation happen. He went in to go to work only to find the doors chained and a sign on the window saying they had closed. The employee checks were in there too and so he never got paid since the company went bankrupt. I can only hope that the economy will start to get better in the next few years. Right now we're doing fine, but it is a struggle every month with every other month fights over money. DH is great about certain things... one of which me not getting a second job. Been there done that! I am a teacher and I haven't been able to get anything so I am subbing. It'll work out, I have faith. As long as there is family to love and support us and we have a roof over our heads and some food in our bellies, I just have to keep having faith. *hugs* |
